Good for Russ, hope he can look to move forward into coaching. All the naysayers have a point though, our defense and results have improved so much since he''s been out of the squad...

I think Naismith to Rangers is the most obvious transfer out there. Always had a feeling he wants to return there and it would happen at some point - January seems like a good time for all parties (although not sure what they would pay in terms of a fee)

Don''t think it matters what they pay in terms of fee. It''s probably the one place that would lure him away (presuming that he will have to take a wage cut to go anywhere), and his wages will probably cost us the best part of 3 million if he sees his contract out here. Good move for all parties I think - we get a non-contributor off the wage bill, Rangers get a player who will probably immediately be one of the best players in their squad and is already a fan favourite, and Naismith gets to go back to a club where he is idolised, an area he knows well and likes and the opportunity to put himself back in the Scotland squad.

Yep, getting him off the wage bill will probably be enough for City.

They would pay a loan fee though, if we get 500k and they pay 10k a week that would pretty much cover it, not so much of a fiasco as you would think.

What weekly wage do you you recon Naismith is on?

Swings and roundabouts. If they can pay a loan fee then they could pay a higher % of wages.

Ok, most on here have guessed he’s on 40k a week so let’s go with that. If Rangers pay 10 of that we’re paying 30. Let’s say he’s there for roughly 20 weeks till the end of the season, thats 600k, minus the loan fee then we’re only paying 100k until the end of season, so yes, it does pretty much cover it.

There are some prospects Herman, but only raw and untested and probably the same level as if we were shopping in the lower leagues. We were linked with Jamie Barjonas during the Dorrans deal so it may be that something is happening with him?Apples

Certainly looks like Martin is off then. I think Naismith will stay till the end of the season, see where we''re at, then possibly go to Rangers in the summer.

Let''s just hope somebody else rates Naismith and a better deal can be arranged.

Perhaps Moyes still rates him and West Ham can afford a bit more.

With Raggett supposedly joining us from January it sort of makes sense I guess now we''ve settled on a back 4 in stead of 3/5. If they decide Raggett gets loaned out though and with Franke going out on loan then it won''t be happening.

Bradford want Raggett on loan and Lincoln want to keep him until the end of the season, who knows what’s going to happen 😀

Exactly where is it stated that “possibly Naismith too” will link up with Murty?

Wishful thinking?!

What an absolutely ridiculous post. Guessed!!

No one apart from the club, the player and his agents know what Naismith is earning and it’s ridiculous to surmise anything! It’s not even mentioned he is leaving the club. Or is that another guess?

This is a good move for Martin and will give him a chance to play first team football. Naismith has made enough money at Norwich he could probably pay his own transfer fee if he really wants to get back to Rangers.
