Chelsea v City

Recommended Posts

Now THAT''S the Norwich we''ve been waiting to see.

The whole is beginning to look greater than the sum of the parts.

Just need a natural striker and we are there.

Fantastic performance, Lewis a total star - how we could have done him early in the season to get this system rolling. Nelson was unlucky with his pen and it was the only one that missed so you just have to hold your hands up.

Just hope the players aren''t too knackered for Sat, otherwise the real winners were Sheff Utd!
Btw, that was tongue in cheek before any Nelson fans slate me!

Worked hard tonight, but he surely needs a break.
He needs a goal.not a break, he''ll be fresh as a daisy once he hears the ball hit the back of the net.

Just a query about the penalties.

If it had gone past the statutory five and had got to ten, because of the two sendings off, their first, second etc, takers would have been taking again when technically our least able ones were.

That would be a clear disadvantage.

Wow, what a great performance. Last minute equaliser. Brilliant

It''s been tough at times this season and I''ve been critical but f me that was immense. Well done to all the team awesome.

Yes, but their best penalty takers would have been more tired, so it evens out ;-)

It’s a good question. If we were allowed to choose our penalty takers once it rolled around again, it would even it out, but you could argue the team with players sent off should be at a disadvantage.

Just feeling very proud.

The margins were very small. It could have easily gone either way - especially with Klose''s late header.

The side has fight and spirit.

We looked overawed first half but came out fighting second half as confidence grew.

Their goal spurred us on to have a go and we looked so much better on the front foot.

Jamal Lewis tore it up and was my motm.

Oliveira hit the target - the goalkeeper guessed right -that was all.

We showed up impressively on national tv whereas Chelsea looked like overpaid, petulant cheats.

Oh! And as for the video ref decision I think they looked at the incident from the same angle as the ref and backed him because it looked like a dive from there - the other angle in slow motion showed a different picture but the game had moved on. The booking should be rescinded.

The ref also took the decision because of a previous dive so Chelsea put him in a circumspect mindset.

Good honest and strong ref.

Vrancic showing tonight that if players make decent runs, he will find them every time. Zimmerman also looks a real gem - what a faultless performance from him.

Really, losing the toss had a big impact on that shoot out, but acquitted ourselves well tonight.

Lincoln - it wasn''t for nothing because the lads will take loads from that. They might be knackered but they will take confidence and heart from pushing them all the way. Individually and as a team.

Worth it.

Like from Arsenal?

Hopefully your right, and they do.

My MOM was Klose... and a special mention to Reed who was fantastic second half.

"All for nothing".

Lincoln, why do you even watch football you total fuckwit?

That is why we support our club - for moments like that, which remind you that there is pride in supporting your hometown club. For moments that, despite all the BBC blustering about VARse and penalties - remind you that there are still wonderful moments in English cup football, and will always continue to be.

If we don''t experience those special, unique moments; why even bother following a sporting team at all?

Arsenal was slightly different because we took the lead and then lost it to two late goals.

This time we fought back from a goal down and took them all the way.

It''s a different feeling.

And I suppose you were predicting a narrow defeat on pens away to the Prem champions were you, you absolute clown? At a time where we are shipping out any player on average Champ wages.

Have some pride you sad git. You''ll never be successful if all you do is take the negatives from every situation.

Yeah I agree it feels much better.

Even so, with fatigue it’ll be hard to raise our game for Sheff Utd on Saturday.

Great performance, although a less than stellar night from Maddison; hopefully that will discourage one of the big boys from buying him just yet :-)

An excellent performance tonight. So much to be proud of. The defence was superb. Hanley zimmerman and klose were immense. Lewis looks an outstanding prospect down the left. Josh play really well too. So many positive''s to take from today''s match. Add a few more willing runners to this team and we could at still go places.

He still had some delightful moments though Surfer - one fabulous ping out to the left in the second half, and a ballsy penalty.

On the other hand, 25 mil plus 20% sell on could bring 3/4 Jamal Lewises through the Academy...

One final word on tonight. For all the shit Farke has taken recently, he seems to have given our young players genuine belief in themselves.

Both Josh and Jamal could have panicked and wasted the ball tonight, a la Oliveira, but despite the odd mistake, looked like they genuinely believe they deserved to be there. Both players stood toe to toe against the Chelsea millionaires, and showed skill and nouse to turn, beat their opponents and draw fouls on numerous occasions.

I believe Webber''s strategy of hiring Farke is coming to the fore now we see the fruits of our Academy investment, and massive reduction in salary for the older players.
Great performance. But ultimately for nothing. We’re now left with a squad of players knackered for Saturday.

We need 2 or 3 decent additions ASAP.
FFS Lincoln why don''t you just stick to your Reading boys and leave us alone. ? You are one of the most miserable sods on here. Can''t you just appreciate the lads gave their all and it was a magnificant performance and leave it at that ? I expect the truth is you were hoping we were going to get tonked and you''re just p*ssed off we weren''t.

A bitter pill to lose on penalties and poor klose''s face after that header on the final whistle. 3 or 4 more mins against 9 men and we might have snuck the winner. Probably got away with the Willian penalty, possibly due to the earlier Pedro dive and an on form morata might have been more clinical. But Murphy hit the post, Maddison went so close and oh, that klose header!! Massive effort from each and every player, great togetherness, morale looks intact and a proud performance. Well done to the lads and commiserations but heads can be held high. Gunn, pinto, klose, Zimmerman, Lewis, reed and Murphy all outstanding, no weak links across the team, Wes nutmegged kante! So disappointing to go out but very proud. Hopefully we see the opposite from the post-emirates fallout. Tettey''s fit! Bring on the blades! OTBC
