Carrow89 0 Posted August 30, 2017 Make of this what you will;Robert Snodgrass has been talking about his brief time at West Ham, and it doesn’t exactly make great reading for Slaven Bilic. He’s quoted in the Scotsman as saying: “There were a lot of broken promises, a lot of dishonesty and I thought this is not what I am about...I realised from the off that it wasn’t going to happen. I was coming on against Manchester City and he [Bilic] said, ‘Where do you want to play, on the left or right?’ I thought, ‘You’ve just signed me and I’ve played on the right or behind the striker at Hull City all season’. I found it very strange. That was my debut. And every time I played I was on the left. Alarm bells were ringing right away. I don’t know why he did it. I came in as [Dimitri] Payet left and maybe it was a case of ‘you can play there’ but I’d only filled in on the left a couple of times. “I hate that position. When you’re Scottish, you’re brought up to play anywhere. It’s fine to play for one or two games, but you need to play in your right position, especially on the back of scoring nine goals for Hull City. At that stage nobody had scored more goals for Hull or West Ham. The manager was under a lot of pressure and I later said that, out of respect, I didn’t want to go in and see him during that period. But, when I did speak to him, I said I thought he’d have known I wasn’t a left midfielder and that he must have watched me after signing me for that type of money. “That was the conversation. His answer was basically that, when people are confident, they can play anywhere. I’ve been at teams like Hull City and Norwich City and, when you’re signed for big money, they need to play you to get value. But West Ham are signing lads on double and treble what I signed for. They’re always looking to try and invest and get the best. But, when you’ve got too many and lads aren’t playing, it’s not a good environment. People can judge my time at West Ham whatever way they want. But I know myself that, when there is a manager who knows how to get the best out of you, then it’s different – and that’s why I chose Villa. I wanted to work with Steve Bruce again. Tetteys Jig 780 Posted August 30, 2017 ah pilks, that''s who I was thinking of. snoddy was left footed tho wasn''t he, loved to cut back and kill momentum :-P
lake district canary 3,745 Posted August 30, 2017 Will probably do well at Villa under a manager who will build his ego up, but it will be interesting to see how the rest of the team do once he is the main man there. Don''t like the way he has turned on his manager at West Ham. Not professional and after all he is still a West Ham player and blaming someone else for you playing badly is not good. Yellowbeagle 0 Posted August 31, 2017 Must be the only left footed winger in existence who cant play on the left. Not knocking the player who i think is a good player but come on!
HampsteadCanary 0 Posted August 31, 2017 Still shows a lack of leadership from Bilic asking Snoddy which side he wanted to play on. He should know his player''s favoured position, and should have a plan as to why he''s bringing him on in the first place.

I''m not sure why Snodgrass winds me up so much - I think it because I see someone who is so obviously not really a team player. He is good, but he only performs at his best when he thinks he is the main man. I can understand now why Hughton just let him do his own thing - he knew that if he tried to question Snodgrass, he would get a negative reaction. At Leeds, no problem, League 1, he could be the top man. At Norwich he couldn''t while Grant Holt was there, but boy did he make up for it after he left. At Hull under Bruce ("Snodgrass is wonderful, if only I had 11 Snodgrass''s" etc etc) he was allowed to be the main man and it worked for a while - but would you just know it, Hull''s goals started to dry up.....apart from Snodgrass. At West Ham, not the main man, never got going - so out it pours "waa, he asked me where I wanted to play" "waa, he should have known if he had watched me" "waa, too many other good players" "waa, I need someone who loves me, like Bruce" "waa, I''m a right player or behind the striker" (even though I made my name as a left winger at Leeds...) . You coudn''t make it up.
Hoola Han Solo 448 Posted August 31, 2017 Better left winger than Dorrans though.
Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 688 Posted August 31, 2017 At least Lakey is having a pop at players from other teams, rather than Norwich City players as some on here like to do on a regular basis.......
SwindonCanary 423 Posted August 31, 2017 Let''s hope that now he''s with Bruce and Villa, it will put a smile on his face !

Thing is, Bilic will probably offer a different story. It is so galling to hear footballers at the highest level complaining they have been mistreated. Do as you are told by the coach. If he is a numpty then it will show in the results. If he isn''t then you will be playing for a decent coach. Funny how many won''t ask for a transfer and risk losing money. That is the very bad side of the loan system.
