Wes injured out of Irish game

Recommended Posts

Seemed like a tight muscle picked up in training - unlikely to keep him out for long but I guess he won''t be risked for Ireland. Convenient that O''Neil now has an actual reason to not play him...

It was quite a few seasons ago that Hoolahan was considered a player of pensionable age who should be used sparingly.

It seems quite some time since it has been considered, for example, that he should be automatically benched for away games.

That this slight injury evokes concern is testament not only to his immense talent but also to his endurance and admirable self-preservation.

However, chronological considerations dictate that Wes must now be used sparingly.

Daniel Farke has made a few early mistakes and one of them was to use the player for an inconsequential cup game.

We will only get the best from this vintage if sipped.

This latest ''tweak'' suggests ageing vulnerability.

We have the likes of Maddison, Pritchard soon and others after all.

I''m glad Hooli won''t be other than rested during this international break.
