Squad shaping up?

Recommended Posts

To what extent is the squad for this coming season taking shape?

Early days but perhaps it''s time to discuss this already even though it''s complexion is seemingly determined more by those departed than newcomers.

As I see it:

GK: Gunn, Matthews, ?

Full backs: Pinto, Toffolo, Martin.

CBs: Klose, Zimmerman, Efete, Martin.

Defensive midfield: Vrancic, Reed, Tettey,

Attack mf: Hoolahan, Pritchard, Madisson, Naismith, Watkins (or wide,) Andreu.

Wide players: Murphy (x2) Windshutt, Jarvis.

Strikers: Oliveira, Jerome, Morris.

NOW: I don''t know where to put Godfrey and he will surely

be to the fore.

There is probably a youngster I have forgotten about.

The young Arsenal cb? Is he coming?

Short at centre back and full back then?

Need for a.n. other striker?

A lot depends upon how the young ones have come through the Summer.

Overall that''s not a disaster, but no more sales for now (not even Naismith and a fit Jarvis unless the money is for real) and a couple in.

The priority is to strengthen defensively - something we''ve failed to do, to our cost, the last few seasons -- midfield is strong enough, but another striker wouldn''t go amiss.

Shaping up very nicely and rather balanced too.

As now stated by the club we are in the market for defensive reinforcements.

Was slightly surprised Webber said we will sign another midfielder to replace Howson.

Would like a different type striker to the ones we have. Someone a bit more mobile with sniffer qualities.

Looks ok but similar problems to last year still. Great attacking midfielders best in the division imo, with decent width too. I''d have been alot happier with Thompson fit to provide defensive mid competition but i think with Vranic, Reed and Tettey will be fine.

Defence needs major work, it''s minus some players from last season who admittedly i was pretty much glad to see leave. However they do need replacing properly, just losing players does not improve the defence even if it might feel like it.

Goalkeepers, i appreciate alot are excited to see Gunn between the sticks but for me it''s a gamble as no experience it''s all potential atm. Nervous about this, but may be proved totally unfounded, thats the thing with potential.

Strikers wise i wouldnt mind seeing someone else with potential brought in to back up and provide pressure, something different to the proven Jerome and Nelson.

Would imagine Mcgovern, Jarvis & Andreu Norwich careers are over.

Gunn Matthews Jones

Pinto Efete

Toffolo LB

Martin Klose Zimmermann CB

Tettey Reed Vrancic Godfrey CM

Hoolahan Naismith Maddison Pritchard

JaMurphy JoMurphy Watkins Wildschut

Jerome Oliviera Morris

Still think if they receive offers for Wildschut & Naismith they will be gone.

Helpful overview of the squad MK. Agree with Yellow Beagles comments about the squad. I''m still not sure how Farke sees us playing though, maybe another striker wouldn''t go amiss.
