What a surprise, though a needed Centre Back.

"His name is an anagram of Toilet Sinner."

Perhaps he should sign for Fulham then ................................... ........... ''Cottagers,'' .... get it?

Clearly not heard of him but quick wiki left me a bit underwhelmed.

In Farke I trust.

Could well be Webber''s next ''Hefele'' type signing, but with arguably more relevant experience than Hefele had, having spent far more time playing in Bundesliga 2 than 3.Can''t say as I know a lot about him, but if we were interested and he can come in and do a better job for us than Hefele did for Hudd, then it''s a promising option.

Certainly not a surprise that we''re linked with another German transfer - certainly a role that has a gap which needs filling; he''s another tall lad.

It does suggest that the cost is far lower.Any UK player up for sale is now automatically priced at £8m. Whether that is any way near the correct figure or just a ''biblical'' number ie 40 days I not too sure, though I suspect the latter. However it could mean far less in fees, than for what is available in the UK.The key point here will be the player''s approach. Too many times recently we have seen players who sounded good but failed to deliver VOO, Fer, RVW and even Grabban. This time 45 years ago Saunders had them up and down Mouseheld. A few years back Lambert took over a dispirited squad and with few changes also let them to a title win.It can be done.

Presumably the interest has been made public to try and generate more bids.

And yet we wouldn''t trigger a £3m loan clause for Dijks.

Mashiter said it''s possible but total unknown either way.
I guess one of the things that prevented that deal was we hadn''t sold anyone and didn''t know what we''d have to play with - I''d love to see it happen.

when we were signing Dijks everything was agreed for a move wages everything he was at the ground had been to colney 10 mins later he changed his mind and decided not to sign !!

the only way we could get him then was a loan

the lad did not want to sign permanent then for his own reasons

not just a club wants to buy a player you can be 10 mins away a things change

Would think he''d be a tidy signing. Am I right in thinking that the only player we have paid a fee for this summer is Vrancic, and that was about £750k? May have paid loan fees for Gunn and Reed I guess, but surely not that much.Factor in a combined £8m (approx) for Howson, Dorrans and Rudd, and consider the effects of getting shot of nine big earners (Ruddy, Whittaker, Bassong, Bennett, Turner, Mulumbu, Lafferty, Howson, Dorrans), and there must surely be a little bit to spend? Surely we can afford to break even in transfer fees given the decimation of the wage bill?

Fees count for diddley squat in the grand scheme of things, and are usually way out at best.It is wages that are the real killer. They are what carry over from year to year. What we can afford in wages this summer we will not if we are in the Championship next season, and the one after. All contracts signed now needed to be costed against future income ie £30m less next seasonOur income will be cut in half next season. So out of the £30m (?) we earn next season we will have to pay out the runnng costs and meet the wage bill. it is highly unlikely that we are gong to be signing contracts that we will not be able to meet next June.

From site ''Transfer Mkt.''

TONI LEISTNER

Main position :

Centre-Back

Other position(s):

Right-Back

Defensive Midfield

Market value development

Current market value:

£1.49m

Last change:

Jun 27, 2017

Highest market value:

£1.49m

Jun 27, 2017

Versatile defender and can fill other positions. which is just what we need.

Price quoted (3m+) seems on the high side given his previous valuations. Perhaps a latish developer as his value seems to have escalated rapidly.

I wouldn''t trust the transfermarkt valuations in the slightest as they simply almost never reflect the price a player actually sells for (on the rarer occasions where a fee is revealed).A good example is that they have Howson valued at 3.4mil as of Feb this year, yet we sold for over 5mil this week - and many fans expected/hoped for closer to 8...Market value is simply too objective an opinion for any site to accurately predict, but they are pretty good at getting the rest of it fairly bang on [:)]

Leistner is one of the best defenders in the second tier in Germany. A big unit, who gets his head on everything. He isn''t great with the ball at his feet, but good enough for what Norwich need. Very similar type of player to Hefele who Webber signed for Huddersfield last season.

£3.1m sounds high to me, considering he only has a year left on his contract but as mentioned on this thread the numbers in papers are often wide of the mark.

It could just be the player''s agent chatting to force Union Berlin into making him a bigger contract offer - or the club are trying to start an auction to move on a player who could leave for free next summer.

It seems a very ''Webber-esque'' signing so I can believe there is something in it.

The Germans indicate that he has always had the ambition of playing in England in this article.

On the forum of Union Berlin they''re saying that the German connection @ NCFC plus the money offered will take him to NCFC and they are devastated as he is their best defender.

The Berliner Zeitung says that Union are a club that will not be refusing such an offer...they need the money...

He''s what we need , a strong central defender.
Because we concede so many goals from crosses and set pieces?
If we just want someone to head the ball clear & let someone else try & get the ball under control we could have got that tall lad from Lincoln...

Explains where the reports of us being interested in Keller came from. We''ve probably had a scout there towards the end of the season but we were watching the defender not the manager :P

I really doubt he is a leaden footed defender, I would bet he has at worst, moderate foot work ability, and his strengths may outshine (or at worst complement) , anything else we had last season, in the Centre Half dept,

There weren''t many outstanding Centre Half partnerships, in the opposition, last season. they all seemed competent, and able to do all the basics (heading/passing/blocking//organising etc)to an ok standard. That may be all it takes, in those positions, in this League

Just look at Huth and Morgan the season before last, neither gifted footballers but did a great job of blocking, tackling, winning headers and clearing shite out of the box. Although i was initially dismayed at the departure of Howson and a few others, i now am excited at the prospect of a leaner, meaner, younger team.

Leicester didn''t play a possession based game such as Farke has been implementing in the pre-season games so far, or in his team at Dortmund II last season.

For the quick counter attacking style Leicester used, Huth and Morgan were perfect.

I''m not sure there is a huge amount in this transfer and think it might be agent talk of a player who is running out of contract and probably in negotiations for a new deal.
