Bid accepted for Nelson Oliveira fro reading?! Surely not...

Recommended Posts

26 years old and just one year into a 4 year contract. If he goes we must be in a serious financial plight.

In the boozer socialising last night with my mates and we were discussing the club, the appointments, player sales and purchases - including the club finances. We were all in agreement that maybe the money is getting a bit sparse and if things go a bit bosoms up season wise, we could be in the future, in quite a bit of a mess......

In a team backed by Pritchard, Murphy x2 and Vrancic, Oliveira could easily get 25 goals in the championship if the main man.

Selling Nelson would move us from thoughtful squad re-purposing to future-securing cost cutting IMO.

No couldn''t see this one happening, Reading are hardly known for splashing the cash and it would be £10m plus for a player who looked like he had serious potential, is young and only 1 year into his contract.

And do we need the money? No, largely because Webber has said that in shifting Howson we will go back in for another midfielder... hardly screams or a fininacial melt down, doubt he''d be making such promises if it was money to float the boat.

What''s more Farke has come out and said it''s the defence that he wants to add to... nothing about bring in a striker to play his way. Nelson scores for fun when on form... pretty sure Farke will see that as fitting his system to win a match...

Farke also said this 3 days ago

“Of course it is normal there will be speculation and rumours. I just want to concentrate on the guys I have here to work with,” said Farke. “I have said it a few times about Jonny Howson. I like him as a person, I love him as a player. I think he is a pretty good player who can play number six, eight and 10. In my opinion one of the best midfielders in the Championship and I would like to work with him longer. I know there are speculations and I don’t want to talk about them. It is part of the business. Jonny is my player. I appreciate him.”

I would be shocked if reading spent this amount of money, all their chairman really bought the club for was to sell off the car park for housing

I agree everyone has their price BUT lets get real players are not being sought by pl sides with bottomless pockets we are selling or giving away players to other championship sides. Something is amiss that does not mean the management team are doing anything wrong they are working to a budget. It may just be that after several seasons of awful transfer dealings and financial mismanagement life has caught up with us and we are now a run of the mill championship club for the time being anyway

Have to say up until now ive been satisfied with the guys who have left, all 7 out of contractors, plus Dorrans, Howson and Rudd, were all expendable and really not a huge necessity  as part of the nucleus of players we want to stay to form the spearhead of the new set up we have here now.But Oliveira..totally different. Olly is just an integral part of the future for this club,he is pure class, scores goals, and few players at the club are  held in such high esteem by the fans as Olly is. In fact he and Ivo are my 2 favourite players, so please NCFC, listen to us fans, you should know this anyway, leave our two Portuguese guys alone, along with the Murphys, Pritch, Maddison etc!Even the thought of this is making me angry, fake news or not.

Totally with Essjayess on this one. Happy with all exits but Nelson leaving would be very bad news indeed. He is the real deal and I could easily see him being worth between£15m to £20m - in that kind of general bracket. I think he has said he is settled, has great support from his Portuguese right back. Just hope NCFC come out and scotch this one soon - Webber must know the score and will be up to what is trending around on the usual media sites. Come on Stuart - put this one to bed soon.

I briefly checked the Reading fans forums, perhaps a thing i shouldnt have done, but anyway, one guy there says Olly was in a hotel 2 weeks ago with his agent and Reading staff. Dont players under contract need permission to talk directly to other clubs? And anyway, if this has any credence, why has zero rumours happened before now concerning Olly? We all knew about Dorrans and Howson, they were long running sagas, but whats making this so hard to accept is that its come like a bolt out of the blue and Olly is precious to us fans, never mind to the club.Agree with sonyc, Webber or the club need to come out quickly for once and tell us  whats going on with this, fake or no.

Hmmm...if he was in Reading hotel 2 weeks ago, why did it take so long to surface, and is Nelson so noticable to the wider footballing community that he would be recognised?

It could well be that there''s something in it, seems unlikely but we''ll find out soon enough - Webber/Farke will no doubt have some German or loaned lined up if he does leave.

I think Oliveira in the hotel is just Readings version of Shola Ameobi in Morrisons.

I''m sure he''ll be involved in the friendly this afternoon and we can put the story to bed.

Exactly that Herts, team news soon so we''ll know. No way would we play him if he''s on his way to Reading - See Howson/Dorrans this week. All will be revealed #FingersCrossed.

I just watched the stream of the players arriving at the ground and Nelson was in the squad.

Safe to say he is involved then, and hence unlikely to be deep in talks with Reading.

My speculation/bull

I think this recruitment team have many irons in the fire.

Maybe reading have offered circa 10 million and its acceptable but they do not agree to let him go unless they have someone else who may or may not come in.

Just because a price may be agreed does not mean he will be allowed to go.

In that scenario you have folks in Reading thinking they have a deal and of course no deal this side.

Him scoring against the trawler boys must add a couple million to his value, if Reading want him now, it''s 25 million.

This is what was said tho:

Rob Butler:

Just spoke to Farke. He says he wants Nelson to stay but understands every player has their price.

I hope it''s just pure press as he''s pretty key to us this coming season.

If the worst happens and we do sell, I hope Farke gets those funds as I''m sure he''ll have players in mind from his previous club and league in mind.

If we can get another gem like Vrancic it would be great.
