@nickmashiter

Despite signing two centre-backs Norwich are still sniffing around Lincoln''s Sean Raggett. #ncfc #lincolncity #imps

Had this, sent to me, from a long term Lincoln fan, talking about Raggett;

"A decent player, not sure if he is Championship standard yet and he does lack pace. Great work ethic though with never say die attitude.

Who ever we sign usually comes as a ''bolt from the blue'' so to speak ie mostly unknown and almost signed and sealed before we get an inkling.If the fee is what is being stated then he would be a good signing for the future (as said) if the club thinks we can improve him.However they must also be planning for us to be in the PL, so it is not much point loading us up with players who may never play.I am still unsure that Klose will stay/be kept.A month''s time will see.

If Klose goes we ll need another cb but dont see that happening tbh.

Would rather we concentrate on getting a striker

Klose''s injury means he''ll probably stay this summer.

There are 3 strikers at the club, can''t see anymore being signed as they just wouldn''t get much game time. Forwards always command the biggest wages and biggest fees, what is the point in having a playing on big money barely getting on the bench and being annoyed - it would be like Becchio all over again.

Have our new centre halves got pace?

The one area we have got caught out for many years is when we play against a pacey striker.

I think we do need a pacey centre half. Zimmerman was certainly seen as cover, but I feel we need pace and a senior pro to join our ranks in defence.

Upfront we need pace too. We have tricky players that with a good through ball would be ideal, with teams pressing us up the field due to us playing out of the back we can draw their defence out and play that perfect pass.

Been a long time since we had that or ward with electrifying pace.

The comments from Webber today about Clarke-Salter (about Premiership loanees needing guarantees of first team football) probably extend to Bielik and would explain why we''re considering a cheap centre back.

Time and time again the attacks v Brighton were from a couple of passes to a shot. Look at Oliveiras position when his shot hit the post.Check the goals scored in pre season games. You won''t find many that are blls inti the box towards a striker. They are mostle balls played across the pitch for whoever is there to shoot. No need for a designated striker, but players who can hit the target (Naismith, mostly)I would exoect Jones to be ''sold'' amd Mayhews to go out on loan.Webber has talked of 2/3 comng in, possibly. Which would suggest defence. There players can not move about so easily as all too often their play is dictated by the opposition (ie marking them).

I dont think it was pace that was the issue last season it''s was poor reading of the game and team work, ball watching, not winning second balls and basics like not getting their head to the ball first. Some of our best defences have had very little pace in them look at Drury, Edworthy, Mackay and Fleming their strength was as a unit.
