Two Months of LeoVegas.

Recommended Posts

When the sponsorship deal was first announced on 26th June there was a debate surrounding our community based club jumping into bed with a gambling outfit with talk of encouraging fans to gamble, boycotting the new shirt etc.I can honestly say i have never even looked at their website despite liking an occasional bet on football or the horses so has anybody been encouraged or influenced in any way by our association with LeoVegas and their online business since the sponsorship came into being ?

I didn''t buy the shirt because not only is it a crap company, it has a tacky logo that spoils the potential for a nice shirt. Community Fund beats it in every way. No point buying a new shirt when it''s worse than the previous aesthetically.

I joined the site purely on the basis that they''ve become our sponsor. Not gone particularly well, had to pawn the other half''s engagement ring and I''m now looking into selling a kidney.

Remember folks, when the fun stops, STOP.

It''s changed nothing for me, but then I''ve never used any other gambling site. Equally, I''ve never used NU/Aviva, never came remotely close to buying a Lotus or Proton, used Digital Phone Company or increased my Colman''s mustard intake from occasional usage. The only NCFC main sponsor I''ve ever used was Foster''s and that wasn''t often.

I bought asics trainers as a kid.

Opened a Norwich and Peterborough account when I was old enough.

Started to like mustard.

Bought a phone from the digital phone company.

That''s was cause of sponsorship.

Ain''t bought a lotus or gambled as I don''t want to waste my money.

I''ve been selling myself on the streets of Norwich to try and payback my massive debt incurred purely down to the irresponsibility of our club choosing a gambling sponsor. When i bought the shirt what did they expect me to do? NOT bet my house on Ipswich losing their opening 4 games? What do they take me for?

Anyway, to cut a long story short ive learnt im barely worth 20 quid and most of the long term prostitutes around here are classier than me.

The kids have been dreaming up any excuse to prove they need an adult shirt. This is not because they give a monkeys about the sponsor, or the name on the back, they just want to wear what their heroes wear. What is the point of a replica shirt which isn''t?

I haven''t bought the shirt, not directly because of the sponsors but they haven''t helped. It does look tacky but money is money after all

At our last home league game I counted 4 different betting companies advertised. LeoVegas, Coral, Bet365 and I think Skybet. If I missed any then feel free to add them. Its a HUGE part of football and I can''t see that changing anytime soon.

I couldn''t care one way or the other

Gambling sites are to cull the weak and the people who abuse them deserve everything they get

at the end of the day they are responsible for their actions in the same way someone I work with buys £5 scratch cards in 20''s and then complains he cant afford food and wonders why we all call him a twat

I won''t be buying the shirt purely because of the gambling sponsor, my personal choice that I refuse to be a walking advertising board for an industry who''s business model involves getting people addicted to an activity which causes harm in many cases.  This breaks a string of buying the shirt every year for quite a few years now.

Yes I accept that there is a lot of gambling advertising connected with football, but I simply ignore it.  The difference here is that I would be actively promoting the sponsor every time I wear the shirt.

It''s not a big deal for me, just one purchase I won''t be making this year !

Already had a 365 account I occasionally use for the odd accy when I remember to do one. I can see how some view it an issue, but to be honest is it any more so than having a bookmakers at the ground? How about the issue of alcoholism and the fact we sell alcohol in the club lounges?

The difference (for me) is that when I wear my City shirt, I''m not advertising those things.

If our shirt sponsor was a bookmaker, I''d have the same reaction (or cigarettes - if that was permitted!).  Not so sure about alcohol because I''m not convinced people who sell alcohol are aiming to get their customer base addicted as part of their business model, which is the case for gambling if you look into it.  I''d be open to persuasion about alcohol if someone could point me to evidence showing it.

Not sure that bookmakers have a business model based upon getting people addicted. No doubt people with a gambling problem use bookmakers but then alcoholics use pubs, smokers use newsagents and smack heads use drug dealers.

In my limited experience, I''m aware of people being banned by bookmakers for their own protection, because the bookmaker feels they''re betting beyond their means and even because their physical behaviour and mannerisms have indicated that they MIGHT be developing a problem. The staff in these dens of iniquity are trained to recognise symptoms of problem gambling, to intervene where necessary, record each interaction with punters so that a clear pathway can be identified and to facilitate further action in the customers interest if deemed necessary.

Some will slip through the net, it will inevitably cause distress and pain at some point but just as you get irresponsible gamblers, you get irresponsible drivers, irresponsible parents etc Of Course it is slightly different in that there''s.a potential pot of gold with gambling but nobody has a gun to their head forcing them to put next weeks housekeeping into a machine that it''s impossible to beat and is there purely to take and make money for somebody else.

It may be true about bookmakers having a different attitude/business model to online gambling firms, I''d be open to persuasion on that if we get a bookmaker as a shirt sponsor.

Doesn''t change my attitude to our current shirt sponsor though.

It just looks sh1t. Online gambling is not something I wish to be walking advert for then neither is an insurance company. Above all though, it''s ruins the shirt by looking sh1t.

Come on Bristol, get off the fence and tell us how you think the shirt looks...

Oooh interesting, while I''m quoting you and typing this I can see what you wrote instead of ***.  Who knew.

If you don''t want to buy the shirt keep it to yourself. To suggest it may in some way be immoral to buy a shirt with a gambling logo on it is preposterous.

User Report:

I tried the site last night (naughty me) having been stimulated by this thread.

I like to play online roulette occasionally and having had a very nice winning run on Skybet in recent weeks I was perhaps expecting a change of fortune and had previously decided that a change of site might be a good idea.

I registered, with a password etc. and deposited £100. This was immediately increased to £300 as a bonus. I usually avoid these so-called bonuses as they are a bit of a catch making deposit/playing demands before any winnings are released. I decided to go along with it this time, although not bothering to read the complicated list of conditions.

I went to their ''casino'' having had to scroll down through numerous slot machine games which I have no interest in. It immediately struck me that this site was poor compared with others and probably more geared to younger slots players rather than casino types.

However although there were a few of the usual casino games available I was unable to find any roulette games that were not "live" as they put it. With other sites it can be just you and the table.

I withdrew my money .... or so I thought.

This morning I got an email asking me to provide them with ID and proof of my address in order for them to release the funds to me. For one hundred pounds!! They had previously had all my information and a unique password of my choosing.

In return for my trouble I was offered 10 free spins on some slot machine or other which I found insulting as my preference is to never go near the things and I was also reminded that I could re-invest the money back into their site without problem, which I found slightly scammy.

Considering the number of gambling sites available on the net I am surprised that LeoVegas is apparently doing well. My first impressions are that it is quite poor, pales badly by comparison and that there is impression of the ''tin-pot,'' which puts it on a level with the Galloway company (with all due respect for their delicious coffee.)

I also noticed that LeoVegas bank in Malta for some reason and I had assumed they were Scandinavian based.

They are no doubt a bona fide outfit but I would not use them again.

ONE STAR,

The positive news is that I transferred the funds to Sky Casino, having now been truly hooked by the bug, and nearly quadrupled my money. Thanks Leo for being useless and I can now put off my ''phone call to "We Buy Any Car" for another week or two.

My moral compass being set quite low, I have no objection to City having such a company as a sponsor. I just wish that they were perhaps not as small time as they seem to be because it suggests that their funding of the club is quite low.
