kick it off 1,948 Posted April 21, 2017 So tonight, that poor show of officiating was delivered by Mr Tim Robinson, of WEST SUSSEX.Newcastle on Monday play Preston, and are still fighting for 2nd spot with Reading and Huddersfield. Their ref for the Preston game? Bobby Madley, of Wakefield (a few miles outside Huddersfield).I''m delighted we won of course, but I''m just interested in this as a sidenote, how on Earth can a title clincher, and a crucial promotion game be officiated by refs with such vested local interest? Of all the refs they could have picked, how did they end up with those dodgy looking selections?
Van wink 2,994 Posted April 21, 2017 It''s a fair point which was raised in the national media last season, the answer is obviously going to be that refs are professionals and will act accordingly. The point forgotten in that argument is one of perceptions, why risk even opening up debate when with a modicum of sensible plannng the whole question can. be avoided. Baldyboy 0 Posted April 21, 2017 Apparently he was a late replacement for the original ref too!
Crabbycanary3 994 Posted April 21, 2017 He was shocking (yet ANOTHER one to add to the long list of awful Referees)At half time, we said, that he had introduced a bit of retro refereeing, in as much that he let things go, and allowed physical challenges (not that any other Ref this season has), and as long as was consistent, then fine, and that we hoped he didn''t have a aberration in the 2nd half, and right on cue........... The prat gave free kicks for people falling over etc. Absolutely awful
