Michael Bates 9 Posted May 24, 2017 See the link below doing the rounds on the internet. He made 10 appearances for Birmingham City and has caught the eye of several Championship clubs it seems. We certainly need 3-4 in that area this summer so it could have legs? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/amp.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/05/24/report-derby-county-nottingham-forest-and-norwich-city-weighing/

kick it off 1,927 Posted May 24, 2017 Highly rated in the Poland set-up. Arsenal paid 2.5mill for him after he broke into the Legia Warsaw team aged just 16. Only made 5 appearances for them before Arsenal came calling. Legia were Polish champions at the time (not that the Ekstrakalasa is high quality, but it''s not like he broke into some minor second division Polish team)
Branston Pickle 3,598 Posted May 24, 2017 Would it be a loan or a permanent?
king canary 7,455 Posted May 25, 2017 I''d assume a loan. We''ll need to use that market well this summer with all the changes we''re apparently looking to make.
Mr Angry 1,512 Posted May 25, 2017 Let''s hope he''s better than the last defender we signed from Arsenal, Ignasi Miquel 😳😳😳
Old Shuck 182 Posted May 25, 2017 Miquel is now with Lubo on the Spanish 2nd division after the club he joined following his release from here were relegated.Had high hopes of him-and Ayala, to be fair. At least Ayala has done a little better than him since then!
Woodman 92 Posted May 25, 2017 Yes, Ayala was excellent at Wembley with his dithering around allowing Cam to dispossess him for our first goal!
It's Character Forming 1,156 Posted May 25, 2017 It would be a pity if we have to loan him, but given how thinly stretched we are now at CB it may be necessary. As for Ayala, I always thought he had potential to be a good CB and I think he was a key player for Boro when they reached the playoffs against us and were promoted the following year. But yes, against us in the playoff final he gave a real reminder of some of the bad things we saw from him when he was with us.
Old Shuck 182 Posted May 25, 2017 True, Ayala blotted his copybook when he let Cam through-but I think, as a mistake,it was a rare one (albeit costly) rather than par for the course for him.No reason to think he''d have been any worse than anyone else back there for us last season.
