Just need some defenders now
Just goes to underscore yet again how Norwich City are addicted to having a massive midfield, but no defence.

New structure. Same old City. Delia and Wynnie have rearranged the deckchairs, but nothing has changed.

Farke clearly has a clause in his contract that he cannot sign defenders because Russell Martin is the chosen one to do all the defending at Norwich City.

All we need now is an early exit in the League Cup and no change will be all wrapped up and delivered.

Delia out.

Official announcement - https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2017/june/mario-vrancic-interview/

We''re moving fast with transfers, rumours come up and then 4 hours later, they''re in the building!

We''ve made two confirmed signings - one an attacking mf-come striker, the other a keeper. We''ve been linked with this German/Bosnian guy today, and were linked with a left-back yesterday + an Arsenal c/b last week. I fail to see a problem, it doesn''t matter what order you get players in so long as they come.

....hadn''t seen that he''s signed, but I fail to see it is a bad thing. The Bundesliga is at least as good as our PL so I don''t have a problem signing a player apparently on the cheap due to relegation.

It certainly nic to see us buy before selling, a good signing as not too expensive, should add quality and if we do offload Dorrans for the reported £1 million make a little on one in one out..not to mention wages!

Great to see players in place before the start of the season. Five or six games to play before the transfer deadline so at least 15 points on offer. Get them in early and train them together plus the pre season games so that they can adapt to Farke''s ideas and style.

Just read the EDP which says that he mostly sits in central midfield - so ignore my point above. [:$]

Concerned he sits in central midfield - I was hoping for someone with a bit more energy than that.

One thing is for certain is that we need to offload at least 2 or 3 midfield players, either sell or loan!?

So far we have:

Murphy1

Murphy2

Wildschut

Jarvis

Pritchard

Hoolahan

Howson

Tettey

Dorrans

Naismith

Maddison

Watkins

Vrancic

Thompson

Godfrey

Ebou Adams

And it feels like some I have missed?!?

Of those I think we will/should lose Naismith, Dorrans and Howson.

Godfrey I suspect will end up playing more defensively but having watched him play a few times he would be more of a Tettey style.
My guess is he''s destined to be our equivalent of Aaron Mooy.
I doubt he has anywhere near the ability of Mooy.

Sorry, but from what I''ve read and the statistics I''ve seen, this isn''t a very exciting signing. I''d prefer to have kept a tried and tested Dorrans, and most certainly Howson.

Not messing about are we? However you try and rationalise it, it always made myself and I think a lot of other fans jealous seeing other clubs be proactive in the last few summers while we flaff about.

I don''t know much about this guy but he''s supposedly a ''complete'' midfielder, someone equally comfortable attacking and defending while being a specialist in the sitting midfield role. It''s not Howsons natural position and Tettey/Dorrans are specialist players, superb at certain things but miles away from being the complete package.

Imo we''ve been crying out for a player like this just as much as we have defensive reinforcements.

Set piece specialist as well? Nice, seems a clever signing.

I like the fact that he could play anywhere in midfield. It could release Howson into what I feel is a better, more attacking role, if we play 4-1-4-1.

Many years ago we signed the player manager of Bristol Rovers, Dave Williams. If it were now people would be saying who, what?

HE helped us win the old Div 2 title and if memory serves me correctly, until injury crippled his career, he was leading the passing completion stats and player ratings in the top division.

Before we start to question the ability of any new signing who we know beggar all about apart from what we find on the internet, lets just say well done to the new regime for bringing in three new players so quickly.

That list of midfielders does bring it home. Most of them would see themselves as first team hopefuls at least I guess, so definitely need to trim.

At least a couple of Wildschutt, Jarvis, Howson, Dorrans, Naismith out the door, and a couple of young lads out on loan.
