Bill 1,788 Posted March 6, 2017
Supporting your club sometimes means recognising that things need to change to allow things to improve.
or supporting you club until those supposed changes are madeat the moment we still have a chance, and until that is gone then my energies will be focused on thatnot endlessly griping
birchfest 397 Posted March 6, 2017 Ive always been an optimist, probably held views some on here would label ''happy clapperish'', but even my view now is that it pure delusion to think we will make the play offs, let alone win 3 of those games to go up. Onto next season.
Hairy Canary 668 Posted March 6, 2017 As I said supporting your club can be different things to different people. You carry on supporting the status quo and I''ll carry on pressing for change.
Bill 1,788 Posted March 6, 2017 err, maybe most are not thinking that we will make the playoffs, but simply that we still have a chance however remoteand we do not have to win three games in the playoffs eitherps as a nipper I went to Old Trafford 50 years ago, no one gave us a dogs chanceso as a suporter I will keep supporting, no delusion about supporting your club through thick and thin
......and Smith must score. 1,336 Posted March 6, 2017
Not finished yet. This season still has plenty of twists and turns left in it. That''s all.
For heaven''s sake man STFU.That''s all. [:D]
Hairy Canary 668 Posted March 6, 2017 As a supporter I will keep on supporting too. Supported them through several thin periods as you have but I am not deluding myself and expecting things to come right when change is obviously needed. I''ll call for change because its what I feel is the best thing for our club.
GPs Beard 0 Posted March 6, 2017 I always find the concept of being optimistic , or pessimistic, curious when it comes to supporting a team. Fact is , we have absolutely no control over what happens , so thinking either way is a bit of a waste of time. Looking at probability (form) , based on previous circumstances is the best we can . We needed around 2 points per game from the Derby game , we won and went on a mini run , even including the terrible defeat at Rotherham , and immediately before the draw with Newcastle we had 16pts from 7 games. This gave us a modest chance. But 2 points out of the last four games have knackered us. We still haven''t beaten a top 6 side , and have a ludicrous away record. We are not going to get into the playoffs. Its not optimism, or pessimism. It just isn''t going to happen. But it doesn''t make me more or less of a supporter. lake district canary 4,531 Posted March 6, 2017
We are not going to get into the playoffs. Its not optimism, or pessimism. It just isn''t going to happen.
Nothing is that certain in football. The reality is that we have enough games to get back challenging for the top six - it''s not being optimistic to say that - the future isn''t written! Bill 1,788 Posted March 6, 2017 "We are not going to get into the playoffs. Its not optimism, or pessimism. It just isn''t going to happen."that is still an opinion at this stage, however qualified it might bemy comment about being a supporter is not what stance you take at this stage regarding our chancesbut is about those who are demanding there should be protests, demonstrations, booing etcmy view is firstly that as before, there cannot be anyone within the club or any suporter who is happy how things are on the pitch, but silly divisive acts won''t achieve diddley squatso to those ''protesters'' my thought is get behind the team and club then let''s see where we are at the end of the season and go from there
deltic31 13 Posted March 6, 2017 FFS Lakey just give it up!
lake district canary 4,531 Posted March 6, 2017 Give what up? Trying to look at the possibilities? Never. Football is as unpredictable as any sport and anything can happen.
Chesney Hawkes 0 Posted March 6, 2017 If you can show me a season where a team has won all their remaining away games, going into those final games with an away record of P18 W4 D4 L10, and a goal difference of minus 14, and conceding an average of more than two goals a game, I am prepared to give your opinion some credibility.
Bill 1,788 Posted March 6, 2017 Lakeys opinion is that it is mathematically possible, as it iswe are talking possibilities, not probabilitiesand maybe it isn''t such a bad thing to have supporters being optimistic as opposed the the constant deluge of those whining and whingeingwhereby EVERYTHING with the club is wrong, the board are conspiring to rob the supporters of theirdeserved place in the PL etc
Chesney Hawkes 0 Posted March 6, 2017 There''s optimism and then there''s delusion.
Chesney Hawkes 0 Posted March 6, 2017 Unless of course you once saw the film "Mighty Ducks" and thought it was a documentary.
Bagster 101 Posted March 6, 2017 I think LDC is on to something here, if we play the rest of the season with our peckers up it just might put off the opposition, now where''s that viagra;)
Bill 1,788 Posted March 6, 2017
There''s optimism and then there''s delusion.
and there''s stupidity..... on your partLakey is merely saying that it is possiblethatnis not a delusion it is a statement of factnowhere is he saying what the possibility is
Donkey dangler 0 Posted March 6, 2017 Time to give Godfry more match time.
Feedthewolf 4,844 Posted March 6, 2017 If we can somehow win tomorrow night, it''s not implausible that we''ll take nine points from our next nine. Reading''s next three games are Newcastle at home, Preston away and Sheffield Wednesday away. And that''s just to get within touching distance, and discounting the fact that Fulham are four points ahead of us, with a game in hand at home to Blackburn. Clutching at straws, but failure to win tomorrow night and any last conceivable possibility of the playoffs is extinguished.

Chesney Hawkes 0 Posted March 6, 2017 Right. So let''s also say we are all part of a giant alien consciousness and perceiving ourselves subjectively in an alternate and internal universe, while objectively we are being turned into giant robot termites with a mission to tunnel to the core of the planet and make it implode. It''s possible.Nobody tell me this is nonsense, because this is possible. Darth Canary1 91 Posted March 6, 2017 Spoons that''s more likely than us getting a playoff place
king canary 7,580 Posted March 6, 2017 Mathematically it is also possible that we could finish 17th. It won''t happen but it is possible. However I doubt we''d see the same posters vociferously defending someone''s right to claim that.
hogesar 9,618 Posted March 6, 2017 Just saying but how awesome and kinda funny would it be if we did make the playoffs from here and Lakey was able to bump this thread?!
Chesney Hawkes 0 Posted March 6, 2017 I would just retaliate by bumping the "top 2 still possible" thread and suggesting if you start a thread with every possibility, you will be able to bump one of them one day.
