Club statement on new boss

Recommended Posts

There is no doubt in my mind that the owners are culpable for the situation regarding Neil''s sacking and the Irvine debacle. Webber, however, has handled the press conferences very well today and cuts an impressive figure. Didn''t he say that he was going to the board today with two possible HC candidates and implied one of those will be the next HC.

He may have been digging and turning over the soil these last few weeks but not in his garden!!

I for one have the unusual feeling that we may just be turning the corner or have I had too many Adnams tonight??

With all due respect to his press conference, Peter Grant once said he wants to manage in the Champions League.

Football is played on the pitch, not in a press conference. That''s where we need to see the changes come to fruition

It''s the right decision. The better candidates are in work and by the end of the season Webber will be even clearer on the squad capabilities and needs as well as knowing who could be in range

Eg fulham not making the play offs would bring jokanovic in as an option and more likely than the in demand Wagner.

As for the youngsters Irvine clearly has damning concerns about harming their confidence from both a lack of support from fans and guiding experienced team mates who don''t play for themselves let alone a learning teen or two. Who would you trust to support Godfrey at cb??

On reflection, Webber''s arrival, while positive, doesn''t change the fact that we''re facing four home games devoid of any meaning, with a caretaker manager who doesn''t really want to be here and a group of players who struggling to show they still care.

Welcome to the world of the mid table.

Let''s face the last 9 years have all had something on the end games but prior to that meaningless end of season was more the norm.

Of course if we were in the PL this is what we would be aspiring to. The Stoke, WBA model..out of relegation proles but never going to trouble the top six.

You are right YotT, but, as you rightly say, that would be in the Prem, where we could be seen as slightly over-performing, whereas here, in the Championship, it is seen as woefully under-performing, a big difference
