Some of my favourite bands were at their peak 20 or so years before I was born, and in the case of The Smiths etc I was only alive during the latter part of the band. There''s some really great new music around at the moment too, if you look hard enough, but the lack of decent rock/alternative bands in the charts these days is depressing. It is obviously a wider ''gene pool'' than I had imagined. Rundgren would have to be top of my list (yet to think more on this) and he is probably responsible for many soundtracks of my life. Gedge always comes over to the merch stand after and is a nice guy to have a chat with.They''re playing ''George Best'' at the waterfront as its the 30th! Anniversary. I am actually thinking of seeing him in the US ....he is so often touring ..... still at his age. No doubt you''ll have seen the Darryls House YouTube videos. As for favourites....so difficult. My early favourite was Initiation but have to admit that Hermit of Mink Hollow, although very commercial, was special because it was the first album he totally wrote, played each instrument, produced and engineered.One of my favourite other bands is the Tubes and a few of them, particularly Prairie Prince and the late Vince Welnick are associated with Todd. My son is also a fan. I guess one day he might be revered for the musical icon he is (sorry for the Initiation pun... Should have said ''Ikon'') and there might be one of those bbc2 documentaries?
