One of our own....

Great news. Haven''t seen too much of him, but the Murphys are testament to how well the loan system can work when utilised correctly. Will be great to see a youth product coming off the bench rather than the Laffalump next season.

He''s 21 and been here ten years already. Would''ve been good to have seen him come off the bench for ten or fifteen minutes occasionally building up his confidence etc.

Didn''t people question why the murphys went out on loan, in a similar way?

No doubt this thread will be inundated with negativity about Carlton, our club and this deal. But I''m well pleased that he''s got this chance. Where would be the sense investing so much in him and letting him go. He has a good loan in Scotland. He''s played well for the U23s while he''s been here. He joined Rotherham at the end of January and hasn''t played because he''s injured. He was talking about hopefully helping Rotherham take points off teams around us in the table. Leave the bleating to them if it happens. It could be a master plan....

Not wanting to knock one of our youth set up but if he''s not getting games at Rotherham at 21yrs of age, what makes us think that he''ll be useful back up here?

We wont know of course unless we give him a chance but if the likes of Lafferty, Becchio etc get stick from us for not being up to it, why not "one of our own"?

I think if we were honest with exceptions such as Eadie, Bellars, Sutton, the vast majority of players coming out of a Norwich academy will be looking at playing L1/2 at best. Nothing wrong with that by any means. A great feat for anyone and we should be proud of such successes.

We tend to get players that were "lost" from academies such as Man Utd and Spurs. These youths are generally destined to play at Champs / L1.

Way of the world. We are not a big enough club to attract the absolute top talent that can get into a middling Prem / Champs side.

Would love him to prove me wrong though :)

Fair enough Nutty. Good to know hes not playing due to injury rather than ability.

Because let''s face it, if he cant get a few minutes for Rotherham he''s highly unlikely to get em here.

He''s not getting games at Rotherham because he''s been injured....it pretty much follows that he''d have not been a lot of use for us these past weeks either.

Good news. His success will be based on his physicality so it probably makes sense that be won''t be too involved with the first team till he''s a bit older than the murphs etc.

Im not up to date with Morris after showing great promise in the youth team.

Obviously he is good enough which is why he has a new contract. So when do you realistically think he will start to feature in the first team?

Good news and protects his future value.

Fingers crossed he gets fit and some games at rotherham soon;

A loan is the right thing for him right now and would love to see him start finding the net on a regular basis; hard to know just how much potential he has for a first team / bench slot here until he starts scoring.

I should imagine the club knows what it is doing. Those of the FA youth cup winning team who have been released have found their level, below us. Sinilarly there was great upset when Joe Lewis was allowed to leave but he never achieved ''heights'' above us.What is pleasing is thatthis investment is starting to show fruit - amd hopefully the game against Porto will give fans another chance to see these lads play at a high level and in a big stadium.
