Norwich U23 V Dinamo Zagreb U23 - Premier League International Cup

Recommended Posts

Noticable that both Lafferty and Jarvis were played. Suggests they are not out in the cold as some might think - albeit Jarvis has been injuredAnother emphatic win, that suggests the club certainly ''knows what it is doing''. Maybe that''s part of the reason so many bright prospects have joined our youth system. The win did not include Carlton Morris, Toffolo or Remi Mathews. Players who may well be up to pushing for a play off place. And coincedentally those of the FA cup winning side who have been released have found their level, as so will many of these eventually. Be it downwards or up.However it is absurd to claim,  as some do, that ''older heads'' should have been ''cleared out'' and youngsters given their places. The Championship can be a very physical place and sometimes it needs wiser heads to meet that challenge. So much to look forward to. The play off place is not over, the U23''s are looking to reach the final......... and hopefully young master nutty was able to show his nippers how to boo properly. If the club can get it right on the pitch, supporters should be able to get it right off the pitch.

Aren''t they all out on loan?
Fantastic win by all accounts, hoping the club will make the highlights available.
err, that was the pointie we can still field a strong team when we have three good ''youngsters out on loan(apologies if it didn''t come across that way)

Don''t think Morris has played for Rotherham yet, since his loan agreement. Toffolo got sent off for Scunny last week. Matthews seems to have done ok up in Scotland.

If we are going to persist with one up front who is expected to do the hard work that Jerome and Oliveira do, I''m not sure who their longer term replacement will be - unless we go out and sign someone similar. I don''t really see Morris doing that for us.

I was there last night and it was worth a visit.

Norwich looked comfortable all night if I''m honest, Zagreb came with the game plan of trying to break on the counter but in all honesty they never got going, mainly down to the Norwich midfield who dominated all night and when they did get through Efete was always there to snuff out any chances they did have.

There some notable performances though, Lafferty put in a shift all night and was a threat, took both goals well albeit the first being a bit of a gift, Maddison pulled the strings, that boy has huge amount of talent and the Zagreb midfield didn''t know how to stop him; however, there were 3 others that really stood out last night, Efete the centre half, if you asked a novice to point to the centre half which was young and inexperienced or the one that has Premier League experience, you wouldn''t have pointed at Bennett for the later, Efete is big, strong and quick and was good on the ball last night; the other 2 that stood out were Godfrey and Adams. Godfrey is a unit, very mobile and seemed to stroll through last night with ease and Adams really impressed me, he was everywhere, putting in challenges, hassling the opposition and rightly deserved his MOM award.

Finally the 2 full backs (Ramsay and Lewis) last night looked good prospects, comfortable on ball and got forward well.

City''s youngsters romped into final four with thumping Zagreb win

NORWICH City Under-23s have been drawn at home to Sunderland in the Premier League International Cup semi-final. The other match at the final four stage sees Swansea host Porto. City reached the semi-finals on Monday courtesy of a 6-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb, and are the only team in the competition to have won all the matches they have contested. The date of the semi-final and relevant ticketing information will be made available in due course, with admittance to be free to all fans once more.
Early indications were that we were going to play Porto but we have been drawn at home to Sunderland
yes, it did look like it was similar to the world cup with winners of groups playing other designated groupsPorto have a strong youth set up if their recent success in this tournament is any thing to go byand Swansea recently beat usso perhaps Sunderland is a good draw, more so as it is at home.be good if it was over the Easter school holidays as well as I''m sure that would see a big crowd
