One of those little dots high up at the back of the South stand is me. Packed in like sardines that day.

And the prize for the most obscure photo....The 2nd Air Division host an American style rodeo at Carrow road.

I do remember them being a large employer in Norwich and the factory on Riverside road was huge, covering virtually from where the Riverside multi storey car park is now, all the way to the leisure centre & swimming pool. The original Riverside Road, ran all along the river, pretty much where the path runs now from the train station to Carrow Bridge. Anyone remember the song from the Barclay - "you''re going in the river"!?
The change in the whole geography of the area really is quite amazing, including the re-routing of all the roads.
Yes, it''s almost impossible to remember how the old road layout looked.Riverside Road was indeed what is now the towpath that runs from the bridge on Prince of Wales Rd right up to Carrow Bridge. I can remember you had to keep an eye out for cars although not too many used it on match days. The only survivors are the fishermen." You''re going in the river " reminds me of the day we played Peterborough in a friendly match. Posh were losing so the small band of their fans headed back to the station early along Riverside Rd swiftly followed by '' Barclay Boys '' intent on trouble. Unfortunately the away fans hadn''t anticipated their rivals cunning as they became trapped in a pincer movement by others who''d double backed and were heading straight towards them. With a choice of a kicking, jumping in the river or clambering over the vicious spiked railings along the derelict railway land it wasn''t going to end well. I remember reading in the ensuing court case that at least one poor unfortunate took the third option and probably wished he hadn''t as in trying to escape he was hauled down onto the spikes while straddling the fence.Ouch.....

Those pics of 1992 are 25 years ago, seems to have flown past.

Wonder what the area will be like in another 25 years?

2042 seems a long way ahead, it''s difficult to imagine what Carrow Rd will be like.

For certain there will be more blocks of flats song the River, cant think there will be much of that wasteland undeveloped.

The football ground will be a 35000 seater, with drones serving beer and pies to your seat.

I can remember well how the old river end looked like with it''s grass hills behind,me and a mate used to sneak in the ground some match days about 12 hide under the south stand then appear once people started to come in ! you would stand at the back of the south stand and think right where am i standing today ? and for us it was usually about 10 yrds from the old south stand/barclay corner bit.Years later i would stand over the tunnel in that corner where we had a good view of the away fans too and was there for the 1975 league cup semi v Man u when Suggett scored great memories.

The ship in the main pic is moored outside where the Ferry Boat pub was/is, opposite the leisure centre. Actually, mentioning pubs, there were 3 close by the ground - the Clarence Harbour, the Ferry Boat and The Kingsway. Clarence was always the ''away'' pub as I recall (which was where the new terrace houses have been built on the left coming down the hill at the Barclay end.
You have forgotten The Jolly Maltsters that stood on the opposite corner to The Kingway.
Was that the one on the corner just before you turned onto the bridge? (Coming from County Hall side)

That''s fine - I originally posted them on the Geograph site which has a lot of guff about copyright. Personally, I''m happy for people to use them. The one Tilly posted of the corner being taken by Steve Coppell at the Main Stand/River End corner is probably my favourite one I''ve ever taken despite it being with a very basic point and snap film camera (possibly an Olympus Trip). I noticed the other week that Wikipedia were using a pic I took at the Cardiff Play-Off Final so nice to have my art appreciated!

Yes - and it only took black and white photos of people in Top Hats
