Making Plans 936 Posted January 1, 2017 22 games left and realistically we will need 46 points to have a chance of a play-off spot. That''s a tad over 2 points per game compared to the 1.4 points per game we''ve mustered so far.Not impossible but highly unlikely given the rut we are currently in especially with little or no sign of any improvements being made for the last 10 games. So the next 10 games are key if we are to move into a position whereby we are challenging for a play-off spot at the end of the season. Those games are - Derby (h)Rotherham (a)Wolves (h)Birmingham (h)Wigan (a)Cardiff (a)Forest (h)Newcastle (h)Burton (a)Scum (h)Not the most difficult set of fixtures so we probably need to take 24+ points from those 10 games. That would leave us needing 22 points from the last 12 fixtures which are arguably much more difficult. However, we should know our fate by the end of January - with 3 games at home and Wigan away we really ought to be looking at an absolute minimum 10 points from the next 4 games.Anything less and we''ve got no chance. Capt. Pants 4,227 Posted January 1, 2017 Yep pretty much Championship winning form required. We''ll be at least 8 points behind 6th if we lose to Derby. Current/previous form suggests we don''t have a chance in hell of making that gap up with most of the top 10 to play again.
Yellowhammer 86 Posted January 1, 2017 We have a chance but big improvement needed ,I don''t think we will do it ,got to accept that we are playing like a middle of the league team ,just hope we can finish above the scum and finish in top half . Not very enthusiastic for the new year but realistic .
Guest Posted January 1, 2017 The plain fact is it is possible but the standard of football being played completely rules it out.It is going to take a 180 degree turnaround and that doesn''t look likely.
The Unsullied 0 Posted January 1, 2017 The reality is that we need to try to get to 50 points to stay in the league. Unless Neil goes soon even that is a tall order
The Big Bad Wolf 0 Posted January 1, 2017 We have persisted too long with AN. If we get a new man in after Derby we might see a bounce because confidence is a powerful thing. Our confidence is low right now and I don''t believe AN can turn it around. But we are now relying on two things...our form rapidly improves and the wheels come off two or three of the teams currently in or around the playoffs. Right now us making the playoffs is a long shot, unfortunately.
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted January 1, 2017 Slim, i would say, who is going to slip up enough for us and the likes of Derby and Villa to get in ?

Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted January 1, 2017 We did it once with 70 points but non of this season has a fairytale feel about it more like a horror story we will do well to finish halfway
Hoola Han Solo 448 Posted January 1, 2017 The facts tell us that we can''t beat anyone in the top half. So to get the required points we will need to be flat track bullies and beat all the poorer sides. And in the play offs any organised side will dispatch us. With Alex Neil as manager we have absolutely no chance of promotion, in fact its farcical he''s still manager of Norwich City.
norfolkngood 1,086 Posted January 1, 2017 A New manager would give me hope with AN no chance
city4eva 209 Posted January 1, 2017 No chance, we can''t beat teams in the top half and are now struggling to beat teams in the bottom half.Closer to relegation than play offs

Syteanric 1 Posted January 2, 2017 We''ve lost 10 games already this season.Pretty much non existant playoff hopes now. It would take title winning form to get anywhere near.Brighton and Newcastle will both amass at least 85 points I think. You''ll need 75 to hit the playoffs. Mello Yello 2,289 Posted January 2, 2017 Chances of getting into the play-offs?Nah........not looking good at the mo''......I wonder if our ''current'' illustrious board of Directionless are confident of us getting into the play-offs?.......When the support air their discontent......the board immediately insert fingers into their ears, and repeat ad infinitum......"LAH LAH LAH LAH LAH LAH LAH LAH!".........Yes soiree! Making Plans 936 Posted January 2, 2017 Well, 4 points from 2 games, 3 clean sheets, a hatrick, up from 12th to 9th and suddenly we''re only 5 points off a play-off place.Play like this the next 3 games and we could be in a play-off slot at the end of the month.Happy New Year
