Rowett linked with Forest

Recommended Posts

According to the local paper here in Nottingham, the US consortium which is close to completing the purchase of Notts Forest has lined up Rowett for the manager''s job.  Forest had won 3 in a row back at the start of December but since then have lost 5 out of 6 league games (managing a single point in the other) and went out of the FA cup at Wigan in a display described as embarrassing by one of their midfielders.  This apparently has been enough for the new owners to decide they''ll sack Montanier as soon as they''re in charge.

Given Forest are only 2 points above the drop zone and have a decent Championship squad, I can see why they''ve made the decision, (if the paper has it right and it certainly sounds like they''ve been briefed by the new owners).  But it also puts in perspective just how much leeway AN is being given, with a much stronger squad.  I think at almost every other club, he would have been sacked long before now.

"I think at almost every other club, he would have been sacked long before now."a cluethe new owners to decide they''ll sack Montanier as soon as they''re in charge.perhaps NCFC will do the same when our new owners take over..........and we '' are only 2 points above the drop zone''

Hopefully the Olsson deal will be completed quickly to enable us to spend the £2m wisely before Rowett is snapped up

The OP is right. With his record he would surely have been sacked at many other clubs long before now. The huge under achievement with the squad and spending power at his disposal over the last 12 months is the reason AN needs to be replaced.

We don''t need new owners or to wait to get two points from the drop zone to come to that conclusion.

AN is here for the long haul, he would have been sacked by now.

I agree though, how much money he has been given has been silly given his inexperience in the transfer market prior to being in charge of NCFC. The lack of support and guidance he received was pretty bad though given McNally was still at Norwich at that point don''t forget.

Thoroughly agree Hairy C.

How much more does this clown have to get wrong before he is shunted out?

It is not too late atm for an experienced man to get us up this season, but time is running short.

yes, that''s the problemthe club simply handing over money and saying ''off you go laddie, see what you can get''why don''t we have a system where others are involved in identifying players, meetings take place involving board members and negotiations are carried out by someone well experienced in these matters ...CEO, perhaps ?it can''t be safe having AN walking about with all that money n his pocket, either

AN is here because he fits with what delia wants he knows he has to sell players and will have little to re invest

he will do as he is told as he will never get another chance like this club

Not many managers will come to a club that has little to spend to build a team of their own

Rowlett will have millions at forest if they are taken over

Are you saying he can''t do that again? And if so, do you know that  for a fact?  Form has improved recently and the team arguably put on their best performance of the season last time out in the league - so, could it possibly be that the manager has it within him to get them focussed and heading up the table to the play offs and maybe promotion again?   I would say definitely yes. He''s been give the go ahead it seems for the rest of the season at least - so why not get behind him and see what he''s got?  Harping on about getting rid is pointless.

LDC: "The "clown" as you call him gave us arguably our best day out ever at Wembley and galvanised an underperforming team to promotion."

Wembley was well over a season ago. What has he achieved since then except for muddled tactics, team selection and player purchases? He cannot live on the Wembley day forever and we cannot put up with his level of managerial incompetence forever .... even though it looks as if we will have to.

Anyhow I hope you are right and he does turn it around. He has galvanised a more than decent squad into mid-table championship level as things stand at the moment.

Great stuff ripping up other peoples posts Biggles but as usual no opinions of your own. LDC may be contrary to many on here but he puts his view and argues his case.

What about you?

Do you think he should stay? Have the club bought wisely and have we ended up with a balanced squad?

Biggles thanks all the same for advice i know plenty about how the club is run

Do you think we are going to carry on without planning for future short fall in turn over ?

It was said today during the Leeds game that the takeover fell through. Good news if true, as Forest are another club under performing and foreign investment just puts another club in the money club with the ability to pay for the players wanted by clubs living within their means.
