For what it is worth, I suspect Neil''s position has very quickly gone from being pretty secure (short- and medium-term as far as this season goes) to very precarious. It would seem absurd to many outsiders for him to be sacked when we are still in or just out of the top six, but then we are losing ground rather than holding steady or making it up.

And football is a bit like politics, where one mistake too many or even a seemingly trivial incident can be seen as the last straw and crystallise opinion, suddenly making what had looked like a difficult decision much easier.

I agree Purple.  It''s tempting to say a week is a long time in politics and football.  But looking back at our results, we had a bad defeat at Birmingham at the end of August, then during September we had unconvincing wins against several teams who are in or close to the relegation zone.

We then had the defeat at Newcastle.  After which, to be fair, we bounced back with a good win at Wolves, and won at home against Rotherham (who have only 7 points).

But since beating Rotherham, we''ve had a run of four poor results.  For me the incident which has crystallised my opinion was letting Leeds equalise when we''d gone ahead in extra time against 10 men.  But obviously getting spanked by Brighton makes it look like AN could have "lost the dressing room".  In any event, to me he''s struggling to turn it around.

We all remember the post "Beating [  ] could relegate us".  I''m sure if Wiz was still with us, he''d post that beating Leeds could mean we fail to get auto promotion.  And if he did, I''d have a sneaking suspicion he might well be right...
ICF, there are complicating factors in trying to assess what might happen, should this poor run of results continue. We have a new (albeit experienced) chief executive and a new (inexperienced) chairman, neither of whom was responsible for choosing Neil.We also have owners who were part of that process, and have tended to be loyal/not panic/stay too loyal (choose according to prejudice) at the first sign of real trouble, which is what this is. You can argue there have been worrying signs before, but nothing clearcut enough - ie real trouble - to act on.Then there is the "If not Neil then who?" question. Is there anyone better and available? At least our board is unlikely, given its track record, to make a trophy-name choice as stupid as that of Wolves and Zenga - a famous ex-player who has never shown, over many years in many (short-lived) jobs, any aptitude for football management.

Without giving too much credit to those in the know, if you were to bump in to Russell Martin (or any player etc) in the street, and you asked him a few questions about the atmosphere at the club - to which his responses were negative - would you then not share that on this forum or with anyone?

There will always be players that have reason not to be happy, like for instance Ryan Bennett who will find himself, rightly, on the bench again as soon as pinto is fit.

I doubt very much that players would go into exact details about what''s going on behind closed doors, to some random fan they meet.

Well I will not boo on Saturday, and I will be happy if my opinion that Alex Neil is not the man to get us promoted turns out to be wrong. There is no doubt we are going through a bad patch, two consecutive blanks in the league, six goals conceded, a total no show all on the back of some far from convincing performances, some strange selections by AN coupled with an apparent inability to change things when tactics are not working so taking all of that into consideration I personally I do not find it at all out of the ordinary that some fans are calling for AN''s head.....

I could never boo what I love, doesn''t feel right to me and never even crosses my mind, the whole panto granny thing ain''t my bag. On the back of a heavy defeat, or even a more ''respectable'' defeat, I just feel huge huge disappointment. Simple as that. Hopefully things will have picked up by the time I''m back from Florida, it''s not been too much fun lately watching from afar. OTBC

What did he say then?

Bear in mind I know exactly what was said. And am stunned you managed to extrapolate " turmoil at the club" from it.

Oh and what the hell does the fact that Duncan is no longer going to QPR have to do with anything under discussion?

gossip noun

"casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details which are not confirmed as true."

That''ll be a yes then.

Please take your personal squabbling elsewhere, there''s plenty of space on Norwich talk for you to indulge in private conversation.

So Til and a couple of others have a quick word with Ryan Bennett after a 5-0 defeat and he says there are problems in the dressing room and they all immediately believe him. Let''s be honest, Bennett isn''t the sharpest tool in the box and would moan anyway because when everyone''s fit he will have his backside on the bench.

How about giving us a bit more detail if there are so many problems. He could be right of course but No one really knows unless they either work at Colney or genuinely know a player.

The conversation went as follows:

CUSDP: Can you play in goal?

The question, in jest, was in reference to McGovern''s substandard display.

A clearly dejected Ryan Bennett replied: I can''t play anywhere at the moment.

End of conversation.

Now, to put some context into the situation obviously we''d just been thumped so had he been turning cartwheels it wouldn''t have been very appropriate. However, when it was reported later that the players had ripped into each other a bit after the game it did "seem" or could be interpreted as telling, that RB was first out of the dressing room and all on his own.

Of course, he might just shower quickly. The fact he''d been garbage throughout the afternoon though makes me think that perhaps he was on the end of a few home truths.

Anyway, just to dispel another myth, after his brief "chat" with us he wandered over and had a long chat with Russell Martins Mum and brothers which I imagine blows out of the water the suggestion that there is any animosity between the pair.

Tilson has turned an off the cuff RB comment into a full blown "squad in turmoil" theme. That''s some magic trick.

Must have been a useless policeman if always blabbing about private matters and gossiping like a old woman.

I heard that conversation, RM''s Mum said "Apparently Tilson has stopped drinking in The Nelson" and RB said "Yeh, the whole fan base is split into two factions, it can only end badly".

I''d be surprised If there were any bad blood between Martin and Bennett considering that they are neighbours and there families are friends
Oh and I''m fairly sure professional footballers know when they haven''t played well, either individually, or as a team.

They don''t need some numpty booing them, justifying their behaviour by carping on about how much they earn. The same Tits who post things on Facebook bemoaning the fact that soldiers and nurses don''t get paid as much as footballers.
Saturday''s performance fully justified booing after the game. What I found hard to believe were the people who were clapping the players when they came over. What for? Turning up??

I can certainly tell you that there was bad blood between two certain players way way before the Brighton match, and by that I mean two seasons ago............! And you know they are friends do you?

Yes they are neighbours and their families socialise together. This talk of them not getting on is nonsense.

For that avoidance of being accused of being another poster making up nonsense rumours, you should name them, City 2nd.
