Safri wasn`t fit !!Is FIFA empowered to disregard a clubs doctors diagnosis , and give the go ahead for an injured player to risk his career by playing ? Ark 0 Posted October 12, 2005
Ramadan for next 3 weeks, unlikely to be at his best, maybe a blessing in disguise, particularly if Jarrett can show a remarkabe turnound in form?
I noticed that too... and I imagine he''ll be raring to go 110% once it''s over. It''s amazing how much energy you can find once you have the novelty of being able to eat and drink during the day after fasting for 30 days (I speak from experience)... It''s like the feeling of a Sunday morning lie-in after working for a fortnight straight!
Dicky 0 Posted October 13, 2005
Agree 100% ncfc0405. Yes we''re gutted but I doubt anyones more gutted than Youssef. If he wanted to go and represent his country (in a crucial qualifier, not a meaningless friendly) even at 75% fitnes...
Totally agree. Every genuine player will give everything to play for their country. All credit to Worthy for not trying to stop him.Of course it''s a shame he is out, but that''s football. a1canary 0 Posted October 13, 2005 there are a few falsehoods going around here - he was not technically injured, he had tightness in the groin but he was still able to play and the manager took him off as a precaution against brighton, NOT because he broke down. he was still able to start against tunisia and it is in that scenario that any key england player would have, and would have been expected to do the same. FatMan Fat 0 Posted October 13, 2005 This is a pretty pointless thread apart from the posts from Zipper and Plastic. The reason it is pointless is that NCFC and W had no say in whether Saff went to Morocco even if he was injured. Any National Association can pick an injured player for their squad and insist that he travels and is then assessed by the Association''s medical staff as to their fitness. As pointed out by Zipper, if the Club/Player does not comply then the penalties are severe. In this instance Saffri was picked by his Association, therefore he travelled. He was assessed for fitness and ruled fit to play, so he played and unfortunately got injured, again...that''s it.
Birchington Yellow 0 Posted October 13, 2005 Doesn''t this all depend on your definition of fit ? If every player had to be 100% fit to play we (and many other clubs) would rarely be able to field a full team ! Deano hasn''t been 100% for most games this season, should we have not played him ? should we stop paying him ? send him back to Crewe get his head straight ? (No pun intended) Injuries are an occupational hazard for footballers, Yousef could have played 100% fit and still have picked up an injury. Yes he''s been one of our best players so far, yes we''ll miss him but we''re not (or shouldn''t be) a one man team. All the best for a speedy recovery Saf and let''s get behind whoever takes over while he''s out.
sheded 0 Posted October 13, 2005
Yes it was a bit strong. And also completely illogical, given that Youssef has lived in this country for a number of years. I don`t like getting personal , as a rule , its cowardly to insult people your not face to face with ! compre ?

Herb 0 Posted October 13, 2005
It takes one to know one " herb " and your certainly one of them !
Oh dear "takes one to know one...ner ner ner ner!!"...this is sounding more and more like Avenue First School circa 1977. Thanks for bringing back the memories, but I''m not 5 anymore I''m afraid.Listen Einstein, I''ve already explained why I took offence to what you posted. I''ll explain it to you again using shorter words with less sylables if you think it''ll help. The tone of your post and the phrase used had obvious overtones. Maybe it was an unfortunate choice of words on your part, but I''ve seen nothing from you since to suggest this.Still giving you the benefit of the doubt, though why I don''t know. My "messageboard numpty" comment was in response to a dig you had about "messageboard moral police". So how does that have anything to do with whatever you do in the real world? If you want to get all uneccessary and take things personally, then frankly thats your problem. For my part, I''m leaving this one, this thread isn''t about a personal disagrement between me and your good self, its supposed to be about Safri. So, since you seem determined to have the last word, the stage is yours.I''m going to try to find somewhere to discuss football. Crazy Eddie 0 Posted October 14, 2005 Well, the injury to Saf dismayed me, but the childish bickering gave me a good giggle. So thanks very much :-)
Mello Yello 2,597 Posted October 14, 2005 Stop acting like adults, and behave like children....... C''mon let''s lighten up a little, and chill a bit. I''m sure the moderators would have removed the offending comment if they deemed it to be "whatever?" Now, let''s all shake hands- and throw teddy back into the pram. OTBC ;~) And maybe I''ll refrain from being ''dreadfully immature''......
