Reasons to sack Alex Neil

Recommended Posts

1. Seven defeats in the last nine for promotion favourites.

2. Alienating key players through poor man management

3. Still doesn''t know his best side, continually chopping and changing.

4. Complete failure in the transfer market. Millions of pounds of players siting on the bench and at home on their sofas.

5. Unable to demonstrate tactical nous. Continually persists with a 4-2-3-1 formation that clearly isn''t working.

6. Offering contracts to players that should be moved on, and then not even playing them!

How is he still in a bloody job! He''s completely incompetent!

Yes, he is unbelievably inept in tough conditions, and is fading as a leader, clueless in fact. He seems to have lost his managerial ability somewhere, which is obviously unacceptable.
Where did it go wrong Alex? You were doing so well.

I know we were on tele, but the there were a few empty seats on show. Not loads, but the attendances are starting to slip a little.

We''ve stagnated. AN can''t turn this around now. The sort of run required for him to gain confidence back from the supporters is one of epic proportions, and one most mangers would struggle to deliver.

Every single defeat or under performance is scrutinised. What would constitute a decent run under a new manger, wouldn''t be considered one under AN. He''s got too many wrongs to right.

The crowd have been making an obvious effort to support the team as distinct from the manager. The support was good on Tuesday and the crowd did their best first half again yesterday. It slowly changed however and after the subs it was just too much for some to accept.

It looks as if even when we are doing well and winning the crowd are not now behind AN, I can''t see how he can turn this around and with the additional pressure this is putting on the team it is dragging everyone down.

AN should be replaced before January - the consequences are far too great not to!

This decision should have been made weeks ago. Unfortunately we have board members who move like sloths...

What are the available options to replace him with then?

Rowett? Allardyce? Jackett?

I think MB got it spot on, on the pinkun live coverage yesterday. We have an aging squad of players who are not up for it anymore.

Regarding AN, his subs yesterday made no sense at all and I struggle to se what Naismith brings to the team.

This is what frustrates so much though. We''ve got a wealth of hungry young talent which should be integrated into the starting 11. He''s made some great signings in Maddison, Pritchard, Canos but isn''t utilising them! They are hungry players desperate to start!

What''s even more boggling is the fact he offers new contracts to ageing players who aren''t up to it.

He has not strategy with squad selection. How can he persist with the likes of Tettey and Bassong when he has fantastic young talent available? I thought AN''s ethos was young and hungry.

Some points of criticism are relevant, but criticising AN for tinkering too much with the team AND not being experimental enough with young talent is a bit ridiculous. If he rotates the team it is a problem, if he doesn''t it''s the same.

Part of problem was the media stating we were one of the favourites to gain automatic promotion, I think the whole set up at CR from Head in the sand Delia to the car park attendants had the impression that we just had to turn up and 3 points were guaranteed.

All that is irrelevant now

He does seem to have some serious double standards when it comes to who gets picked/who gets dropped though.

Brady has been pretty crap all year yet starts every week. Pritchard gets one start then a 45 minute run out before not being in the 18. Canos can''t even make the bench yet Naismith who has done the square route of fuck all gets chance after chance.

Maybe the yes men get the nod and those with a bit of attitude, bite an opinion spend time in the wilderness ?

It does appear AN stubbornness is going to (has) ruined this football club.

He now simply refuses to play 2 up front even when losing at home with 20 minutes to go because if it works out he will be left with egg on his face for refusing to try for 18 months,

My mate summed it up last night he is not a City fan but lives local and wants the club to do well he tagged along and after the game he said if you made 2 lists one of the squads in the league and one of the managers in the league and then asked every footy fan in the league to rank them City would come out 2nd or 3rd in squad ranking but only about 15th in managerial choice.

He went on to say the guy next door to him has the best tool collection in the street but Tommy up the road has only got one spanner and a hammer BUT he knows which one he would let fix his car !!

Thought he summed things up pretty well considering.....

and just for the statisticians among us ANs record is now inferior to that of Neal Adams 2 yrs ago we are a point worse off after 22 games and 2 places not to mention an inferior goal difference which is 8 worse and we are 5 points further behind the leaders (before today) than we were then.

FFS put us and him out of our miseries he looked a lonely dejected figure on the touchline last night !!

But does he rotate it? I think that is the problem being made. He has young hungry taken available but always goes with the predictable.

People need to stop mentioning Canos, if you''ve seen the U23''s it''s obvious he''s way off the first team.
If you saw his performances for Brentford last year, you''d keep mentioning him.

Judging a players abillity on reserve team performances is naive.
And judging him on performances in a different season, in a different team, isn''t?

Canos and Pritchard, both played very well for Brentford, we seems to have taken the edge off them though.😀

Apart from Jacob, who I think has done extremely well, the biggest failure over AN''s reign has been his ability to improve players. Most seem to have gone backwards.
This isn''t just down to AN by any stretch - the entire coaching team has responsibility here - but at the end of the day it''s his team. We haven''t developed a style - as fans we have no idea how one performance will vary to the next, other than it''ll be 4-2-3-1.
Even with the 4-2-3-1 we don''t seem to have developed patterns of play, familiarity or common interchanges and swapping of positions. Our build up is slow - which isn''t the end of the world if you''re a possession retention based team probing around the oppositions area - but we had 35% in the first half on Friday night.

The one an only reason is failure. We''re currently falling away from the front runners like nobodies business. Obviously, the fans and the board have rather different views on failure...

It is highly likely that we shall lose on Boxing Day at the Madjeski stadium. If we then go on to lose at Griffin Park against a poor Brentford tea then surely the board can have no excuses for not pulling the plug on Neal''s tenure at Carrow Road.

What you say is completely correct. And I would like to add that his ability to buy players to improve the team is not good at all.

Quite frankly I can''t honestly say that any one of his purchases has improved the team apart from Pinto over Whittaker. Brady started well but is now a shadow.

But the rest (maybe Maddison excepted) do not add up to the loss of Johnson, Redmond, Grabban and Hooper.

I''m not interested in what Canos did last year for Brentford. He''s not getting games here because he doesn''t deserve to. He should be dominating U23 fixtures and busting a gut in those games to prove he should be starting in the Championship. He isn''t.

He''s out of the team so his stock has risen. Young Jacob''s in the team, he''s busting a gut to keep starting in the championship, and his stock has fallen. Go figure...

Remember when AN is highly sacked - which must happen at some point - it is merely papering over the cracks.

We will still have the board. :(

Didn''t seem to bust a gut on Friday. Kept slipping all over the pitch, trying to get past his men instead of making the sensible pass, not tracking back to defend, looked like a damp squib. Which brings back Hogesar''s comments about Neil and his coaching team''s inability to nurture the talent they have at their disposal.
