because those managers are dinosaurs who didn''t adapt and move with the game.obvious exceptions being Wenger (who perhaps is now a dinosaur himself with lack of Success) and Ferguson who changed the game himself.4-4-2 and hoof it up to the big man to flick on to the little fella died years ago. these managers played one way and that way is now dead.

[/quote]Not quite, as many would be now knocking on a bit whilst others appeared to have a problem with the till and their fingersAnd I hardly think Ferguson "changed the game himself."That''s probably the beauty of it. It is still the game as ever was. All that changes is the cliches and means and methods of taking the money off the not too bright.

Ferguson was an incredible manager but was also supported like no other manager had been. Since, plenty of managers have been given huge war chests but Fergie was given the opportunity to build, dissect, rebuild and then do it again when the big signings didn''t come off.

The bit that I quite like is the fact that Boro have clearly stood by appointments. They haven''t chopped and changed or crazy gambled on a bounce. They''ve given managers time.

I hope we do the same with Neil. He makes mistakes, he''s far from perfect but he''s articulate, confident and right about now our team seem to be responding. Still with only a solitary championship away defeat (that will change) and with a clutch of young players that seemed irrelevant when we were in the Prem but now look astute, he might just be pretty good.

Of course, when you''re NCFC manager there''s always a trapdoor looming, be it a failure to get up or a failure to stay up.

He''s got something about him though.

Proved he''s ruthless, coaching has changed, not scared to drop or dump big money/name players. Lots to learn but I''m glad he''s doing it here because if he was elsewhere we''d struggle to recruit him now.
