Too easy!

Recommended Posts

Rotherham were very poor yesterday.

The only threat we have is ourselves, when we focus and start playing one touch football teams can''t get near us. It''s our lapse in concentration that''s costing us not the quality of the opposition.

I don''t think we''ve hit our stride or performed anywhere near the standards of last season, the championship is very poor this year.

Huddersfield and Barnsley are proving this.

This season really is demonstrating the gulf in class between the Prem and Champ, with two of the three relegated sides seemingly finding it far easier to win games. Its a shame that Norwich seem to be stuck between not having the class in players to stay in the Prem, yet are too good to be playing in the Champ. We are kind of in a no-mans land, hence we keep yo-yoing. The sad thing is if we do get promoted this season we maybe only need to make three or four decent acquisitions to bridge the gap. However be prepared for more disappointment as the exact same thing will happen as previous seasons, where we drag our heals in the window, struggle to attract the players we want with the money the board is willing to spend and end up convincing ourselves the squad we have is good enough to stay up this time. Repeat!!

The gap between perm and CH also highlighted by a very poor burnley side yesterday who never looked like scoring and were extremely fortunate to get a pen. Like us vs Rotherham, Southampton should''ve won more comfortably and didn''t need to get out of 3rd gear.

All these cakewalk predictions have a nasty habit of coming back to bite you on the bum.So far although we''ve been blowing hot and cold and still winning there''s always a rocky patch for every team each season when the points dry up. It''s getting over that patch that''ll be the key.

There should be no excuse for at least not making the playoffs this season and anything less would be an unmitigated disaster. Not saying it will be a cakewalk, however on paper we should be up there or abouts, and if not, some serious questions would need to be asked on why? If we don''t get promoted this season, I can see a long stint in the Champ ahead of us and a lot of progress made undone.

Very encouraging start, much better than I expected tbh. 4 tough away games coming up; Fulham, Brighton, Derby and QPR. Winnable but also potential banana skins. A long long way to go yet.

I agree this season will be our best chance and expectations are high. Hope we don''t choke.

I guess the good thing is the player don''t certainly think that way - not only have we got AN telling them not to, we are in a position where we have a huge amount of experience in some leadership-type players that keep it that way with the likes of Ruddy, Martin, Dorrans, Tettey, Hoolahan. That''s just as important as anything, keeps the team grounded. They know there''s a lot of hard work to do between now and the end of the season. Obviously it''s delightful to be top of the league right now, but Newcastle and several other teams are going to keep us on our toes, all we can do is concentrate on ourselves game by game and then evaluate where we are come the turn of year.

we''ve been promoted out of this league ,the last 2 seasons we''ve been in it.....and this time we have an overall better squad than in either of those two seasons, whilst in my opinion the overall standard of the division is weaker....money is gradually drying up around many clubs in this league, whilst parachute payments run out for other recently relegated clubs. Also the abolition of the loan window means that many clubs with weaker squads than ours can''t go out for a quick fix.....or hire a Kenwyne Jones at £35k a week to help get them over the line.

Unfortunately the one thing counting against us this time around is the presence of team like Newcastle lurking down here.

I believe they''re nailed on for one of the top 2 places, probably champions which makes the margin for error when there''s only 1 more automatic place up for grabs all the greater.
LDC - what would you class as an easy game? If not a home 6-0 win?
Before a match - which is what we''re talking about - there is no such thing as an easy match.  It may become easy because the way the match unfolds, but you can''t say beforehand this or that is an easy fixture - in the league they are all a challenge.  If your mentality before a match is "this will be easy", then imo you are likely to be disappointed.

Lets be honest lads the only thing that can beat us this season is complacency !

The advantage us and Newcastle have over the rest of this league is quality in depth of squad.

How many of the players sat on the bench Saturday wouldnt be guaranteed a game at most clubs in the Champs and thats not including those that werent even in the squad this week Brady, Howson, Lafferty, Canos or those away on loan until Jan such as Maddison

However this emphasis the point we need to secure promotion at the first attempt those coming down next season will have a huge advantage financially with the money in the PL now being paid !

Out of the 4 games against teams in the top 10, Norwich have won once, drawn once and lost twice - that will need to be improved on if Norwich are to gain automatic promotion.

Norwich have had a very easy run of games so far, but whenever they''ve faced a decent team they have struggled. It is however, reassuring that Norwich have won the games they should be winning but the only result so far which you could say is "good" rather than "expected" is the home win versus Bristol City.

Tonight will be a tougher test than most of Norwich''s recent games, but until they have looked convincing against the better teams it is too early to start talking about being in the top 2.

Well it''s hard to judge ''teams in the top 10'' because it''s changing on a weekly basis.
And afterall, we are top of the league. Not sure we can be expected to be doing any better than, y''know, the best.

We have had a good start but have not been dominant in many games at all so it cannot be that easy. Rotherham were as poor as the come but we still contrived to be only 2-1 with a few minutes left and we were all relieved to see the third goal go in. Marathon not a sprint if we have bad injuries to Jerome klose or one of the murphies things would be much tighter. As it is we can get better but complacency is a killer

I don''t think many could have realistically expected us to be doing better than we have so far but that doesn''t mean this is going to be easy.

We''ve won seven of the last eight but still are only one point from third place so that shows how hard it''s going to be. It''s not the winning that is tough, it''s shaking off the chasing pack who will in all likelihood also keep winning.

From what I''ve seen I think we have enough to get an automatic spot but it''s a long old season. Should be fun with luck!

Complacency cost us 2 points tonight-too many times players tried little flicks, backheels etc instead of just doing the simple things.

Wasn''t no flicks and back heels the reason Hughton was sacked? Doing the simple things well is so boring ...........
The championship this season has six teams who can give us a game the rest are poor.Sometimes it has become something of training game about it.This is good news for us as top six shouldn''t be a problem, top two is looking good.We belong in the top league not at times a league which is poor on quality
Yeah, right !!

Cameron Jerome''s early attempt on goal apart, I thought the team''s attitude towards Preston had an air of ''training ground/pre-season game'' about it. Having lost to a team who were nothing special, our fragility is clearly evident. We''re nowhere near as good as some people think...
