I don''t have a crystal ball but I see nothing yet that tells me AN has lost the confidence of the Board or the majority of supporters. Win the next home game and we will be near enough on target. Averaging around 1.8 points per game is the target and unless he falls well short of that by the halfway stage he will be ok.The NCFC Board are not renowned for having an itchy trigger finger so calling for his head at the first defeat is a mite premature IMO. It will require some poor home results and a few more boo''s before anyone can say he''s in trouble.

Its not the same board that appointed him though, and that may be a crucial factor - McNally, Bowkett & Fry have gone - Balls, Moxey & Smith Jnr in

Boooo Ricardo!

Will that do?

I''m not sure he has that much confidence, he''s not Balls & Moxy''s man, with Bruice out there I''d be a tad concerned if I as AN! Surely it''s about results and style, considering he''s only won 2 out 5 I''m sure 4 out of 10 might see him out the door!

It only took a few games for Gunn to go, look what happened when we acted early!
i think youre spot on, which is a shame, but i think you also have to consider that its not really just about it being the first defeat, its the manner of the defeat, in the same way the failure to break down sheff wed''s led to booing, and it follows on from a relegation where we kind of went down with a whimper and neil showed a lot of inexperience

Do you think 2 in 10 will see him out of the door, because I don''t.As always his job is at the mercy of events and results that none of us can accurately predict. Based on my experience a manager usually has to lose the crowd before the Board acts. AN hasn''t yet and seems unlikely to unless events take a really bad turn. If that time comes we will all be aware of it but we are a long way off a Worthy/Burnley or Hughton/ WBA situation IMO.

Very relevant point for Chris Goreham to state that both the Chairman and Chief Ex were not party to Neill''s appointment. I also think Bowkett and McNally''s departures are now falling in to place. Bowkett had lost faith in Neill and could not see him keeping us in the Premiership, but as McNally would not support him - he resigned. At end of season McNally realised that "his man" was not up to it and he had some responsibility so he also called it a day. Another interesting comment from Canary Call was that Neill was not in a strong enough position to take on the Board because if he was sacked he had little past experience to add to his credentials. I fully accept he was in charge when we last promoted but it was largely Neil Adams'' team which he managed to motivate at a crucial time. It is noticeable he is nowadays very quiet on the touchline. A couple of further points today. Firstly why on earth play the lightweight and out of form Naismith as a lone striker and then as usual wait until the stipulated 60th minute to replace him and persevere with Whittaker with Martin on the bench. Listening to Jonny Howson''s after match interviews, I do not expect him to be an after dinner speaker, but he does not look or sound "captain material".

Giggs and Phelan

What we need is someone who will the players respect

i really and thinking its getting close to players not really respecting Neil and his backroom team

I have wanted neil out since last season ,

shame as it would be wonderful to have a young manager for years and make a team

but he can not gel the team and make it a unit like lambert did

i thought i would give him 10 games to see if i was wrong about him last season

even i am very surprised though how many Norwich fans have turned on him after the support he had by many last season

Phelan would never return ! Ask yourself why he left, and then an england goalkeeper coach.

My order of preference would be:

1. Steve Bruce - proven record, honest and has a good tactical brain.

2. Tim Sherwood - good attacking style and says it how it is.

3. Kenny Jacket - knows this league well.

4. Ryan Giggs - we wouldn''t be fashionable enough for him though and he could be a risk as it would be his first role

5. Roy Hodgson - although I don''t like his style of play.

As such it is the perfect modern-day idiotic conspiracy theory. Bowkett quit in early December, at which point we were out of the bottom three and not looking like relegation candidates. Why wouild he have lost faith then, and  with a transfer window to come? The one semi-accurate point is that McNally resigned because he thought he was at least in part responsible for  relegation. But I wouild be prepared to bet a fair amount of money he blamed himself not for the choice of Alex Neil but for his own failed strategy of that summer''s transfer window.

If I was looking to replace AN (and I''m not sure the board are considering it as yet), then I''d want better than Steve Bruce tbh.Why do so many fans just look at domestically based managers, when it''s clear that the vast majority of the best managers in the last 15-20 years have come from overseas???Personally I would have loved someone like Favre to come in, and indeed Everton were thinking about this after he left BMG, but instead he went to Nice, so that''s one major boat missed (assuming he would have come here which is by no means certain). So my current preference would be Marcelino, who only recently left Villareal after a disagreement with their board. Knows how to make things solid at the back, uses wingers correctly, happy to play 2 upfront and goes a great job of generally organising a side to make them tough to beat whilst offering real threat on the counter.
That Brighton manager has done okay.
Yes he has , makes you wonder why we sacked Hughton yet stuck by an inferior Neil ?
That Brighton manager has done okay.
Absolutely hated his style of football, but player to player signings I much prefer the signings we got under Hughton than what we are getting under Alex NeilHe made a howler with RVW but the rest, Olsson, Redmond, and the players he tried his best to sign like for instance toby alderweireld etc you could see what he was trying to do and had he pulled those players out the bag I do think it would have been a lot different, but you can''t dwell on what didn''t happen.Under Alex Neil has there even been 1 inspired signing? maybe the one guy who hasn''t played yet....... Pritchard, but time will tell if he is a hype job, or he is the real deal, because basically we wont know until he gets games in a city shirt.  I don''t even rate Klose as high as a lot of people seem to, especially now knowing forwards know they call bully himIts a funny game, football [:)]

Hughton had Premier League money and Premier League allure for his two seasons. Neil has only had that for one. And if we are including players Hughton tried and failed to buy then we have to credit Neil with the high-value centre-half (Koulibaly?) we just missed out on this time last year, and McCormack now.

Here, Hughton had to follow Lambert who had brought us a wildly successful few seasons & had possibly the toughest job he could have had - the negative tactics didnt help his case though.

At Brighton he took over a team that had maybe a slight expectation of the playoffs & could put his stamp on the team - I honestly think that keeping him for so long then sacking him so close to the end of the season was a mistake. He should have gone much earlier, or have been kept on the the following season where I think we would have probably stormed the league with him at the helm. However, the fans relationship with him had completely gone
