Capt_Canary 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Newcastle and Aston Villa don''t mess about. Day of the signing is the day you hear of their interest and business concluded quickly.Villa have now secured McCormack and Kodjia

Haggerdoo 6 Posted August 30, 2016 Probably because they are paying way over the odds - could go horribly wrong if they don''t go up at the first attempt.
OldRobert 38 Posted August 30, 2016 But at what price..................if the reports are true, I really don''t think we can compete with £12m + add ons for McCormack and £15m for Kodjia.
Guest Posted August 30, 2016 Yeah, totally admire them spending 30 mil in fees plus probably 3 mil+ a year on wages for two Champ strikers. Really love what it brings to the game, just like when QPR signed all those top players a few seasons ago.
lake district canary 4,830 Posted August 30, 2016 Admire Villa and Newcastle?? You''ve got to be having a laugh. Both clubs living in the past and struggling to get back to where they think they should be - and doing it by desperately spending money as if it doesn''t matter, with owners who aren''t the least bit interested in the community they have latched on to. Let them overspend - it won''t make them into better clubs, even if it buys them promotion.
Dean Coneys boots 1,531 Posted August 30, 2016 Yes they spent £30 million - that is the gamble/riskIf it pays off they receive far in excess as reward. And you dont get out of this division often without a 15-20 goal a season striker. We have not matched the ambition of promotion chasing sides but seem content to be in the second rung. So far... lake district canary 4,830 Posted August 30, 2016
Yes they spent £30 million - that is the gamble/risk
It is no gamble/risk to them. They have the money. It would be a gamble for us - a gamble on the club''s very status, even it''s existence. Not a risk worth taking.
Capt_Canary 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Well if we didn''t keep wasting money then maybe we would have some.Vadis £4.5m, Lafferty £4m and RVW £8mAs someone said above you need 20 goal strikers to get out of this league. If we carry on with just Nelson on top of Jerome then we can accept mid table mediocrityLast time we went up we had Jerome, Hooper, Grabban, Johnson and Redmond and that betters what we have at the moment
norfolkngood 1,174 Posted August 30, 2016 Look at the managers they have they know what they need and would not be at the clubs unless they were going to be backed very well i expect both to be top 6 in league we can not compete money wise but thats why we need such a smart cookie of a manager to find Gems in the transfer window also a manager who can get more out of a team than we are getting at the moment
Old Shuck 291 Posted August 30, 2016 Don''t admire them in the slightest. Norwich are the only club that matter.Newcastle and Villa have done what they believe is right for them and what they feel is within their budget, two that will be, unquestionably, far and away greater than ours in terms of funds (or overdrafts) available for incoming players and the wages that go with it.That''s up to them. Having a pop at the club for not keeping up with them is like a fan of Preston, Rotherham or Barnsley having a go at their clubs owners for not doing what we have been doing this Summer. The sort of financial gamble Villa and Newcastle are talking is far, far too great for our club to try and match. Yes, I know, I know-worth it if it comes off and we get promoted. But if we don''t?If Villa go up, Xia will take all the glory. If they don''t, he''ll dump them.Someone in this division this season is going to overspend in an attempt to get promotion. And be in trouble when it doesn''t happen-what if they are one of those clubs?I want to support a club, not a memory.
Cantiaci Canary 610 Posted August 30, 2016 What is there to admire? If you applaud billionaires buying success for their latest toy then why not support Man City.Buying promotion is something to envy but certainly never admire.
Bomber 57 Posted August 30, 2016 Capt. Canary states if we had not wasted money - as far as I can recall RVW had just scored 20 plus goals for Sporting and when we secured his signature most of the fans on here were ecstatic that we had signed what appeared to be a top class striker for us at the time a top class fee - things for whatever reason did not work out as appears the Naismith signing which again most people were overjoyed about - just goes to show that it''s easy to say how we have wasted money when at the time most people were probably saying how we showed our ambition with those two signings - at the end of the day a player for a million can be just as much a success as a player costing ten million and on the other side of the coin a player costing ten million can be just as much a failure as that costing one million - whether it''s wasting money or not there is no way anyone can say who will be a success or failure as some players click with clubs and others don''t but I certainly would not have a go at the board for giving things a go which is what most people on here constantly demand of them

GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 2,035 Posted August 30, 2016 thought Kodija looked poor when we played Bristol C a couple of weeks ago.....looked all arms and legs, a bit of a Carl Leaburn. certainly not a £15m striker?
Alex Moss 2,167 Posted August 30, 2016 So pleased I get to follow my club through both our ups and downs without the feeling that nothing is ever good enough. If some don''t want to then that''s fine, but am really looking forward to the days when Olsson, Pinto, Canos, Pritchard, Hoolahan, Oliveira etc click - it''ll far outweigh the constant mediocrity some of you have to put up with 24/7 but that''s your choice, follow as you see fit 👍

We''ve got some class in this squad, it just might take a a month or two before we click.Whether that is too late or not, only time will tell.
