If this is true then the board deserve all the flak they get.

They had the entire transfer window to sign players. To say we couldnt get it across the line because we run out of time will not go down with anybody

Staggered to think you think the board dont deserve criticism for it?

It could just be the player didnt want to the move or the wofe didnt want the move its possibly not the boards fault . We will never know

It was wildy reported yesterday that middlesbrough didnt want him to leave. Maybee something changed last minute which meant we could get him. At about that time the betting odds incteased to evens of us signing him. So maybee this one wasnt the board''s fault. But i agree weve had all summer

Not according to the daily mail it was a 12 million pound deal and middlesbrough did say they would only sell him

Ah yes that''s it, players or their wives wanted to go to every club except little old Norwich.

Of course its not the dear old boards fault for failing to the essential players for the 2nd summer in a row. Its not our fault that we arent prepared to compete with other clubs in this league

Delusional.
They asked for him on Loan

They said NO. There was no 12m deal floating around. Case closed.
Reports say £12 million deal , we bid that supposedly for McCormack , we should easily have that sort of money after 4 seasons in the top flight . Case very much open .

It''s funny how many times after a failed last day we just couldn''t finalise that big money signing.......why the hell did we wait till last minute? Rhodes has been there for the last two weeks!

It''s just good for moral to let the fans know we gallantly tried but failed........

It was clear to see there were four or five players we wanted rid of, Naismith nearly went but his greed to care of that, so we''re left with what we have.

Canos, Pritchard & Oliviera are very solid signings, with Ruddy, Klose& Olsson still here it''s great to have them still here.

Sad that AN isn''t a man of his word allowing a talkent like Maddison out when it was clear he was challenging for a start.

So we go with a solid spine, but a few players who don''t have the heart for Norwich, Naismith, Bassong & Brady could be in that category, just hope that their potential unrest doesn''t have an impact on the rest of the squad.

Last I''d love for AN to take Naismith aside and tell him to lay off his constant Argo towards the younger players on the field, they need encouragement not the arm waving vitriol this guy has been giving in recent games, probably frustrated at his own performances but blames others for his shortfalls.

So what you are saying is that we tried to sign someone, and didn''t. I don''t think we needed the Daily Mail for that priceless nugget of info did we?

There is no excuse for this transfer window given the soundbites coming from the club about last years failings. They have learnt and achieved nothing on what happened last season. In my opinion NCFC are a bigger better supported club than someone like Stoke, we have massive potential as a one County club and our current owners can not get us to the next level. If they have the clubs best interests at heart the hand it over to someone with a clear plans & investment. Not to a Civil service nephew.

I hope I''m wrong but nothing in the last two season have convinced me otherwise.

I love how there''s so many experts on Transfer dealings, there are so many permutations of what could and could not have happened it''s impossible to speculate, and not as straight cut as implied.

Just to add more into the conspiracy pile on this - despite her socialist leanings hasn''t Delia had a long relationship as columnist etc with Daily Mail and sister papers. If you were going to let slip to the media about a "failed" attempt in order to demonstrate the club were trying their best, it would always be to a "friendly" outlet. And then you get someone to let everyone else know on Archant''s MB.

This window has been a farce, but any transfer dealing should have been completed long before the players returned to training at beginning of July. However we were rudderless at the time without a CEO so it is only to be expected it drifted away into nothingness.

Although the loaning out of three players seems excessive - I hope they are all subject to emergency call back clauses.

The op''s point is like saying I tried to get a date with Kaley Cuoco, she said no, but I''m still a player cause I tried.

Those who are responsible for transfers

at the football club have known for sometime (much like last summer when the defensive frailties were obvious) that we have needed center forwards above all else and they should take a good

long look at themselves, asking if they are worth the money they get

paid. We are woefully short of striker options. We have two

strikers that seem to be pretty similar in style, one of which is out

injured for an unknown length and the other who won''t play (if the

manager stays true to form) until the middle of October because he is

not "up to speed yet". Then there is another striker that

has done everything within his power to burn his bridges with

management and fans. Plus Morris, who though similar in style to

Jerome, gets left on the bench as the manager subs our lone front man

for a holding midfielder.

On top of the failure to sign players, we couldn''t even manage to off load Kyle Lafferty, who seems intent to make sure he has no future at the club, or Ricky Van Naismith, who is a financial drain and appears completely unsuitable fit for Norwich City. The former because we couldn''t bring in players and the latter because he can apparently get a better deal at a Championship club than he can in the Premier League. Talk about prudence!!!

There are now 121 days until the start of the transfer window. In

that time we need to offer Van Naismith to any and every team world wide in the hope one of them will match the deal he is getting here. Then we have to have deals in place for two more strikers to come

into the squad, not wait until the last day of January and then fail at

the last minute, and let it leak out to the press that at least we tried. However, I fully expect that

Darnborough, Martin and their

cohorts on the transfer board (or whatever ironic title they have chosen

to give to those that fail to bring in new players) will spend that

time with their fingers firmly inserted the proverbial whilst getting paid

for a role they are acutely inadequate to perform. They may have

tried to sign a striker at the last minute and not been able to get it

over the line, but that just further goes to reinforce my opinion that

they are not up to the job. Much like last summer they have let the

players, the manager and the fans down by not being able to get the

additions to the squad that we need. And sadly due to changes in the rules, we can''t even get in "emergency" loans between now and January.

Oh like we did back in 2006 when Neil Doncaster felt compelled to add an hour by hour account to Canaries.co.uk of his drive down to Bristol to try and complete the signing of David Cotterill on transfer deadline day. Some things just never change with our small-time club - we leave everything to the last minute because we want to do everything on the bloody cheap.
