Why No Outside Investment?

Recommended Posts

Is there a notice placed outside Carrow Road that reads:

GO AWAY.

If Delia and Wynnie are going to continue to cling on to the club and turn their backs on investors then Norwich City will soon find themselves as probably the only club in the top 30 without wealthy investors.

Norwich City are currently still benefiting from the momentum built up under the McNasty-Lambert era and the parachute payments in the early years of Prexit. If this momentum and/or financial position is squandered, there is no one to step in to propel the club up the league ladder with hard cash.

The current board has demonstrated time and again that it is inept and amateur. McNasty saved their blushes for 7 years. Whatever mistakes he made, there was no doubt he was a professional football chief executive who added value to the club in terms of league ranking. The club now finds itself with a hierarchy similar to that which culminated in The Valley, 2009.

There is a severe risk the club could go into reverse gear once again.

The club needs new owners and new board, a new vision and strategy for success backed with lots of hard cash. The co-operative model has failed. Bowkett and McNasty resigned because they could do no more for the club within the constraints imposed by Delia and Wynnie.

Even if promotion is won again the same problem is going to return which is that Delia and Wynnie do not have the hard cash to keep Norwich City in the EPL. So let''s have the change now and build a proper EPL club.

Then the club could follow the Marcus Evans model.

There''s the problem in your last line Vince-you say build a club, but what you want is someone to just put a load of cash-that''s not building.

You want investment? The fact it would be very difficult for someone to put the sort of money you seem to be wanting into the club and see a pretty much guaranteed return on that investment might be what makes few people willing to invest. How are they going to do so?

If someone puts in £40 million, how is that, for example, going to make them£50-£60 million back? They''re investing, that''s what you want...so how do they achieve that return, how can they make money on it and over what period of time?

The problem is, if and when someone does invest in the club and there is, at some point afterwards, even the merest hint they''ve taken some money back, there''d be fans on their backs straight away complaining about it...but isn''t that what an investor should want and expect in return for the money they initially put into the club?

Investment doesn''t mean free money with no attachments. So how do they make money from us? What''s in it for them? Delia and Michael have invested millions in this club and seen bugger all in return, financially-that might just have been noted hence no-one else being particularly keen to follow their lead, put in even more money and then see bugger all return for themselves as well.

Vince how very dare you question how Delia runs her plaything, you knew the happy clappers and Delia apologists would be out in force. Although they are loud in their denials of any problems expect the clamour when as expected next season is a struggle. We make enough to get by as a yoyo club. Curb your enthusiasm and get prepared for the mediochre.

Is that the new colour of the away kit?

Agree. We may as well close the post now and collectively beat ourselves with springs of willow for not marching on the stadium demanding they accept all those offers of £100 Million of free money disguised as ''investment'' that they keep turning away from all those folk who, if they did approach the club and got a negative response would not, of course, then make a big song and dance in public about wanting to give the club money only to be turned away....

I learned last night that the reason we don''t know about all these offers of free money is because Delia''s a bluddy liar.....

Well we certainly don''t want to be left behind and wallow amongst the also-rans along with our hapless rivals down the road.

Robin Lee, a Chinese wallet, is in the process of buying Wolves apparently so BELIEVE:-

''Money is today''s game is becoming ridiculous and the new Premier League TV deal is allowing clubs to reject silly offers for their star players. So as a result of that, it''s no shock to see teams in England''s second division splash the cash in an attempt to reach the top level.

And today it''s being reported that Wolves have emerged as shock rivals to Liverpool in the race for Benfica''s £21m rated midfielder Anderson Talisca. Yes, that''s right, a championship side linked with an offer of £21m.''

Our midfield could be coming up against £21m players sooner rather than later then.

The receipts from Delia''s next book couldn''t buy his left leg.

Yes, because we all know that spending ridiculous figures of money on players guarantees success.

Well when you think about it, we''re being linked with Britt for £7m and McCormack for £13-15m, Newcastle paying £10m for Gayle and £12m for Ritchie, then Prem teams like Swansea are signing players for 4 or 5 mill of a higher league experience. The leagues no longer reflect a players worth or a clubs wallet size.

"Yes, because we all know that spending ridiculous figures of money on players guarantees success."

Nothing GUARANTEES success but having a bit more money in the transfer budget sure helps.

We do have some at the momentm and that is why we can aspire to signing the likes of Asomballonga, and even McCormack, with a reasonable degree of expectation that they will help us succeed next season.

Of course, but I would much rather a club than has a more sustainable financial model, than hanker after a billionaire "investor" to pump money into financing mercenaries who only come to the club for money, rather than pride and playing reasons.

I guess it also depends on your definition of success.

Sums my thoughts up exactly Ian.

You don''t have to look very far away to see a prime example of " be careful what you wish for".

I suppose we could we could seek external investment - then wave £20 notes at our rivals, only to, several years later, be scraping the barrel for freebies and loans after 16 consecutive seasons in the same league and losing friendlies against Barnet.
