£12m bid accepted

Clint, I wouldn''t say Jerome''s out of form whatsoever. He can''t really do anymore than score goals in pre season, and to be fair, he''s banged a few in against various levels of opposition.

Could have broken his leg in the first game? That is some truly impressive straw clutching.
You realise clubs insure players right?

AN decides the targets he wants and then it''s down to the negotiating board that was put in place et al McNally leaving to do the rest. They haven''t and there must be a reason why?

Wouldn''t be at all surprised to see AN walk after this debacle following closely on from the window last year, and January!

Ginja

Clubs insure players? Only if McCormack''s injury was career ending would they get an insurance payout and it would only be worth the value of his contract - as the player is still entitled to the wages even if they can''t play.

Whilst it is unlikely McCormack will suffer a broken leg, there is a risk he''d be injured for a few months or just wouldn''t be able to replicate his form at previous clubs at Norwich - especially as the teams play very different systems.

AN sets the price !

a CEO who is finance director knows nothing about players value !

how long would that work out for CEO telling AN errrrr i value him at that so you can not have him

AN sets the price the he wants to pay out of his budget

then the club CEO negotiate payment plans etc

Find it quite funny really, had we announced we signed him and the deal was £14m, then there would be an outcry that we had paid too much, wont fit our system, too old, he is Scottish etc etc and the same people bemoaning that Villa have "pipped us" would be shouting to sack the manager, sack the board, its a crazy place without football so at least 3 days from now we will all be in Blackburn supporting our team, or will we ? I will

Errrr, no, the selling club set the price, the purchasing club negotiate around that price. NCFC once again did not meet that valuation, whereas Aston Villa did! Just like NCFC turned down 3m for Olsson, it didn''t meet their valuation!

to be fair i wouldnt mind to see one of the murphy''s tried upfront as backup

they can finish thats for sure

Let''s all hope they would get longer than 12 minutes before being withdrawn for a 29years old midfield player!!

Everything you do in football is gamble, if there was a guaranteed way to success, everyone would be doing it. There is a risk of that no matter who we sign, the reason he is selling for so much is he offers a lower risk, there is a very good chance he will perform in this league.
Personally I think the bigger risk is going into the season with only Jerome as a viable striker.

But when Alex Neil was asked about the high price of the McCormack bid, he''d replied that they''d been quoted similar prices "for other targets". Clearly McCormack was number one, but we''ve still got 4 weeks till the window closes. Back in for Britt Assombalonga?

Not really straw clutching. McCormack has had no pre-season, could easily get injured as have many of our new signings. Considering his age and the lack of reserve games would struggle to get match fit. Like what happened to Mulumbu.

And the insurance wouldn''t pay back the transfer fee.

You admit your insurance comment was a bit nonsense then, Ginja?

Every signing is indeed a gamble and the higher the price the larger the stakes. Norwich set how much they want to gamble and stuck by it - a sensible strategy.

Whilst getting players in before the season starts is always the ideal situation the reality is that is only really possible to do when signing players the selling club doesn''t want anymore. There is far more movement late in the window and spending all your cash before then is a different kind of risk.

Jerome for example only became available late in the window when Norwich signed him, and he cost a couple of million and was crucial in the promotion season.

The reality is no one on here knows the finer details of the McCormack deal, and if Norwich dragged their heels or if Fulham tried to drag it out to get a bigger deal.

A window should only be judged when it is closed and it at least sounds like Norwich aren''t afraid to pay 8 figure sums if they feel it necessary.

Yep McCormack has gone to another club and Norwich will have to start Jerome on Saturday, but they were always going to have to do that as McCormack isn''t actually fit yet having missed all pre-season.

Hopefully AN''s other eggs/irons will come to fruition soon.

Nope I said no such thing.
Anyway as you say time will tell, 4 weeks to go and if last season is anything to go by I certainly won''t be getting my hopes up.
