McNally resigns

Recommended Posts

As unprofessional as this was, I''m glad he''s decided to stay. We could do so much worse as we''ve seen in the years preceding McNally.

But it does feel like we''ve finally started on the downward curve after a few very good years. Most of us were optimistic last relegation having rid ourselves of Hughton but this time feels different.

I don''t feel we''ve been stifled tactically, we''ve just been completely found wanting as a team and as a club at this level this year. We''ve damaged the squad further with another poor summer and mediocre winter window. We''re likely to lose those winter acquisitions as well unfortunately.

Mcnally and Neil need to regain their inspiring, ruthless drive and confidence and damn well get it right over the summer or I fear we''re headed back to Championship mediocrity.

Ed Balls is one of the world''s most respected economists, and his experience will be invaluable in challenging and questioning all decision making surrounding how the club is run as a business.  His appointment is entirely appropriate to bring scrutiny to the dealings of our club in all financial matters including the way we manage our transfer dealings.
I would encourage you to look at the man''s qualifications and not at the party he supports.
Businesses are full of well educated people who rise to the top by having half the alphabet after their name who can lecture gathered assemblies but talking the talk is a long way from walking the walk.Bowkett had vast life experience of running successful companies so maybe you can tell me where and when Ed Balls actually rolled his sleeves up and got his hands dirty so to speak ?
It''s not like we''ve never been relegated under the chairmanship of Mr Bowkett................Oh...........well. [:)]
The poster said that Ed Ball is '' one of the world''s most respected economists '' i questioned his hands on experiences compared to Bowkett. Bowkett was Chairman during three promotions and a victory at Wembley. One relegation in six years at the helm whereas Ed will have one relegation under his belt inside six months. This thread is about McNally so to get back on topic two relegations in three years with no Premiership ,lessons learnt coupled with last night''s episode plus the famous '' relegation will be worse than death '' quote last time round does not sit well with me. but then again i am sure as night follows day the stick to beat the club with mantra will be wheeled out/
Aren''t you the one who took it off topic. Was Mr Bowkett the bloke who once promised us ''mid table mediocrity''? It seems that they''re all capable of saying things that they later regret.Read the whole thread and you will find the answer is no.

I also feel the PL has finally become a closed shop. It''s got to the point where you can''t compete without a sugardaddy owner. It''s sad that it''s got to this point, I often see posts like ''if we/Norwich don''t pay the wages/going rate we/they don''t deserve to be in the PL" and I think really? Is that fair? Are people happy that the PL has become an exclusive club where only rich clubs are welcome.

Even a couple of years ago the likes of Leicester had more expensively assembled squads and paid higher wages than us as a championship team while we were in the PL.

Unless we sell our soul to some rich egotist I just can''t see how it''s possible for us to compete at this level anymore. 17 of the 20 PL clubs this year are owned by billionaires. Next year it will only be WBA (who still have a fair bit of finance behind them) and Swansea, but they have secured significant boardroom investment for next year.

Boro are rich, I''d expect them to survive. I''d be shocked if Burnley manage it though with their budget. If every other club is paying first team players 50k+ a week and clubs like us can only afford 25-35k pw the PL is always going to be a miserable place for us.

McNally was never the flawless genius he used to be regarded as here, just as Doncaster was not a total idiot. In fact their careers have followed very similar paths, with early years of success followed by much more difficult times. If McNally can recover that drive that made him (with Bowkett) such a force to begin with then he should stay. But if this "I quit. Oops, no I don''t" fiasco is a sign he has been too long in what is a very demanding job (just like Doncaster) and will never get back to top form then he should go.

I would be passionate about my job with the bonus attachments that he appears to have for doing very little (other than making himself look a prize pillock on Twitter)!

Accountability and persona do not appear to be his strong points!

Football and football finance has little in common with building and running a conventional business. And even less in common with matters discussed and dealt with at the Treasury.

Balls''s experience is that of a career socialist politician, a background that appeals to Delia but is totally inappropriate to the advancement of NCFC.

Why is it that we can''t sustain a decent thread for more than a dozen pages before it degenerates into the usual backbiting? In order to invoke Godwins Law I shall blame it all on Hitler and the Nazi''s.
