Jim Smith 2,540 Posted May 7, 2016 If true then the only concern I would have about it is our boards ability to appoint an adequate successor.Other than that I would not be upset if this news was true. He screwed up hugely in the summer and whilst at one time he was what we needed I have heard more than enough from several sources in recent years to make me question whether his presence and influence was still a "positive" for the club. danielsroundabout 9 Posted May 7, 2016 Football and football finance has little in common with building and running a conventional business. And even less in common with matters discussed and dealt with at the Treasury.Balls''s experience is that of a career socialist politician, a background that appeals to Delia but is totally inappropriate to the advancement of NCFC. Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 7, 2016 I''d hate to see McNally go, and for those that do, I''d be very careful what you wish for. Only 1 week to go and who knows what could''ve happened on the last day should we win midweek and Sunderland lose - quite feasible and the place has blown up already. I''m realistic, it''s looking very difficult for us but nevertheless I''m disappointed to see everyone down tools already - we needed togetherness from top to bottom for ONE more week. Nuff Said 5,868 Posted May 7, 2016 No NBS, I''m not an expert in CEOs, but I do think we have been punching above our weight for sometime, and McNally should take a lot of the credit for that. I also think if there was a clear candidate to replace him, there are other clubs who would have taken them long ago. So any potential replacement for McNally would be a risk. Too much of a risk IMHO.

Today''s inquest shouldn''t be now - it should be in a week, or Wednesday if things don''t go our way, but not today. Everyone''s terribly disappointed but on reflection it''s not actually a huge sequence of events needed to take it to the last day... And then who knows? If Sunderland win mid week then fair do''s but if they don''t (and that''s quite possible) then a home win against Watford makes the last day very very interesting. Yes, we''d have to win but then we know first hand how it could be for Sunderland knowing that a win guarantees they stay up...

Thecanaryfan 0 Posted May 7, 2016 Best for him to jump ship before we are mathematically relegated. And Twitter hack? Why would anybody go to the effort to do that?To be fair to the man, he has played a major role with stabilizing the club. So it''s a perfect time for him to move on. birchfest 401 Posted May 7, 2016 This to me would be more of a disaster than relegation. The memories of some on here are astoundingly short? Remember being 20 million in debt having just been relegated into league 1....Since then we have spent 4 of the last 6 seasons in the premier league! The madness of Norwich fans, oh wha wha we sure love a scare goat!

Whenever there is talk of managers, players, CEO''s, owners, investment, it often seems that we are faced with questions of "well who''s better?", "anyone any good will have already been taken". Nuff Said 5,868 Posted May 7, 2016 I really don''t think it is (little old Norwich mentality). If success at football was simple, wouldn''t Man City run away with it every season as they have the most resources? What works in isolation at one club is no guarantee of success at another (e.g. too many managerial moves to mention, but Lambert to Villa is surely top of our list, or maybe Walker to Everton going back a bit), so looking at what McNally has helped the club achieve on what are limited funds makes doing all we can to keep him a no brainer. IMHO.
danielsroundabout 9 Posted May 8, 2016
And"Daniel", if Ed Balls was a "career conservative politician" instead of a "career socialist politician" would that make a difference?
Not one bit. I was simply alluding to Delia''s politicising of the club by her recent board appointments Balls and Fry, coupled with her own hustings appearances at the last election. I feel a football club should pull all people together and that politics should have no place in it. I was not a fan of Robert Chase''s Conservative county council connections. 93vintage 16 Posted May 8, 2016
He is the major problem at the club he failed hopefully this is him acting with a modicum of integrity
Nail hit on head. Whether it''s scouting, staff retention/recruitment or transfer strategy, the root issues eminate from McNally, given his remit by the board to oversee the football.Since Lambert left he''s overseen two relegations and a young dynamic team has been turned into an aging one packed with mercenaries and washed up old pros. He seemed to have recognised some of our shortcomings, but his solutions were piecemeal and implemented too late to be able to save the club from another relegation. In a footballing sense he''s run the team into the ground, and the aim of becoming an established Premier League side has slipped further away into the distance.
