Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 8, 2016 Thought I''d gauge people''s views on this. Does everyone believe that this is a formality for Sunderland or are you keeping your fingers crossed that the Everton boys can do their old mate Steven Naismith a favour and take this to the last day (should we win against Watford of course). Although I''m a self confessed glass half but totally full bloke, I do realise it''s not likely to go our way - however, should we win and Sunderland draw or worse midweek then the last day of the season could suddenly become very interesting indeed... 😉

Katie Borkins 1 Posted May 8, 2016 Everton are gash. Sunderland are in form. A draw at best.
Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 8, 2016 I''d take the draw in a heartbeat Bor 😉👍
King Klose 0 Posted May 8, 2016 Honestly, just accept we are down. Mathematically I know we aren''t, but it''s just when not if.
Making Plans 957 Posted May 8, 2016 And of course we have to beat Watford which is not impossible. However, it''s very difficult to win a game if, like us, you''ve forgotten how to score and knowing our defence we''ll probably have to score at least 2.And even if it does work out on Wednesday we then have to go to Everton & beat them when they''ve just recovered a bit of pride and confidence by beating Sunderland away. Not gonna happen, is it? The Big Bad Wolf 0 Posted May 8, 2016 A draw would not surprise me...it''s funny what can happen when a team sees the winning (safety) line. It can change their mentality. Problem is I can''t see us getting two wins.
birchfest 401 Posted May 8, 2016 I think the fact it''s a home game only adds to the advantage of a woeful Everton coming to town. Sod''s law Is they show up and put us to the sword on the last day

djc 0 Posted May 8, 2016 We need to win our last two games, plus hope the others both lose. If we don''t cant win for ourselves whatever either Sunderland or Newcastle do is otherwise irrelevant.

Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 8, 2016 I do think what happens on Wednesday maybe dictated by who scores first and what filters through to the respective teams during half time. If by chance we''re 1 nil up and Sunderland are still 0-0 at halftime, then you know the Sunderland crowd and team will get edgy - and that really is totally conceivable. I''ll never forget when it was totally in our hands at Fulham 11 years ago, it was almost worse because we knew a win would secure safety and that brought a pressure in its own right. I do agree that Sunderland seem to be handling the pressure pretty well but we won''t really know till Wednesday night. Apologies for clutching at straws but I''m not wasting 3 days feeling miserable in fantastic weather until the Fat Sam has sung.

Lessingham Canary 108 Posted May 8, 2016 Think our best chance of Everton getting anything at Sunderland, is if Martinez gets the sack in the morning !

Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 8, 2016 Gordon, how''s this for straw clutching mate, referee forgets the script and gives Everton a penalty with a Sunderland player getting sent off in the process... Yes, these are some of the sh1te totally delusional permutations that have been running through my mind all day at work 😂

Yes, these are some of the *** totally delusional permutations that have been running through my mind all day at work 😂 Alex, go the whole hog, Everton score the penalty, there is a mass brawl, and both sides lose at least 3 key players to bans afterwards ! How was Italy mate ?
AJ 1,358 Posted May 8, 2016 As much as I want to have hope I just do not believe we have anything in us to win another game this season, let alone 2!
Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 8, 2016 @GordonFantastic mate, apart from a couple of hitches - we covered 10 countries in 10 days with the bulk of the time in Italy. After we were arrested in eastern Austria we headed down through Hungary and Slovenia to Trieste in NE Italy on the Adriatic coast. It was here that I planned to watch Norwich v Sunderland. The locals were extremely helpful and friendly (as I found all Italians to be actually) but it wasn''t till we stopped in a little village about 15 miles away where some guys who had a bar there kindly put the match on. They even supported Norwich with me, gave us food etc, were perfect hosts (one even remembered us playing Inter in the UEFA) but obviously things went very wrong and the next few days, well, the gloss was really taken off from then on. Saw 20 species of Reptile and Amphibian, many Birds, and even more Scorpions - if it wasn''t for our result against Sunderland then I could 100% say best country all round I''ve ever been to (and I''ve been to a few!), climate, food, culture, scenery and all the other cliches - it''s amazing. Maybe next time will be happier circumstances but funny how badly your team can get to you when it''s truly a crunch game. Hope alls well with you too mate?P.s more straw clutching - Everton beat Sunderland 6-2 earlier this season 😉
Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 8, 2016 Btw for those that can''t get to Carrow Rd on Wednesday night, Sky are now showing the Sunderland game (if you''re a glutton for punishment? 😉).
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted May 8, 2016 Alex buddy.... Thank you :)And it will all be played out with penalty kicks. We''ll get one on Wednesday and then two at Goodison. Fat Sam will explode when Everton get two on Wednesday and Watford get one in the 95th minute next Sunday.Well, they say these things even out over the season... Jools 584 Posted May 8, 2016
As much as I want to have hope I just do not believe we have anything in us to win another game this season, let alone 2!
Listen, AJ, we all know the fat lady''s been gargling that much Listerine since Saturday she''s decided to get it cheaper at Wilkos, but she also went to Gooses in Pottergate for fresh song sheets only to discover the f*cker is no longer there, so whatever you do do not give up the hope [Y]
Van wink 2,994 Posted May 9, 2016 If we go out on Wednesday night all guns blazing and smash Watford 3 nil, Sunderland lose or draw, there will be huge pressure on Sunderland and Newcastle for the final game ( and on us of course). Will be an interesting team selection for Wednesday, I do think we are capable of a good result.
Alex Moss 2,167 Posted May 9, 2016 @Eddie - Welcome mate 😊@Vanwink - This is exactly my point. The actual fact that Sunderland only need to win one of their last 2 is irrelevant- because if they don''t win the next one and we do (not beyond the realms of possibility whatsoever unless you''re a complete pessimist) then that pressure on the last day will be nuts! Everyone in the same boat, but I''d give us the edge actually as we''d have our tails up and Sunderland (who I would imagine would be absolutely gutted not to have taken their chance on Wednesday) would then be in exactly the same position as we were against Fulham all those years ago - and we know what that''s like!.All I ask is for one twist more in the season on Wednesday night, ONE MORE! Lessingham Canary 108 Posted May 9, 2016 @ AlexAll great matey, apart from the obvious ! I did the Amalfi coast last year and visited Pompei, amazing experience that was.Well only 2 more sleeps, and then we go again, clutching at everything at the moment, I believe we can win these 2 games not convinced Fatso will lose both, but we can apply the pressure.COYY
