Is Ed confused (AGAIN)?

Recommended Posts

WHO REMEMBERS:

Humiliating moment Ed Balls FORGOT the name of one of his few supporters

Ed Balls, the Shadow Chancellor, seemed unsure and confused when he was responding to the government''s latest tax and spending plans - the Autumn Statement - on Wednesday. Politicians on the government''s side shouted and laughed at him.

This week he has describe''s David McNally''s contribution as ''huge, though disruptive.''

On the week that our relegation is to be confirmed he suggests:

that our Club will go from ''strength to strength''!

that we have ''one of the best Managers in Britain''!

Is he fantasizing that he is the Chairman of Leicester?

To rely on a Michael Heseltine quote ''It''s not Smith it''s BALLS''!

Thank the lord that this man got nowhere near the purse strings of this country!

Small-minded nobodies should hesitate before posting cheap and silly remarks about Ed Balls whatever opinions they might have about either his political affiliations or his political career.

Just a short excerpt from his Wiki biography:

"He is currently a Senior Fellow at Harvard University Kennedy School’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, and a Visiting Professor to the Policy Institute at King’s College London. He was appointed chairman of Norwich City F.C. in December 2015"

This follows a FIRST at Oxford and eventually being elected MP.

These are no mean achievements. Embarrassing no marks take note.

Apart from being born in the City he is more than well qualified for being part of Norwich City Football Club''s long-term success.

Mr Broadstairs, Are you the same person that contested that our Jan recruitment was just what we needed and had plenty of time to ''bed in'' ....sounds like it.

I do''nt care what paper qualifications Ed Balls has, he is not qualified to run this great football club, let alone a country!

Broadstairs you are clearly not getting the message.

Brian Cox (Prof) is extremely well qualified but sadly not in the right areas to successfully run a football Club.

Do you get it?

Besides, I never said "run" our (my) football club, you did.

I said "well qualified to be PART of," it''s future success.

Read again.

No mark.

When Bor was pontificating the other day about Ed and his economic qualifications i suggest someone look up the fellow company he has at the Harvard Kennedy University or whatever it is called. It is riddled with 3rd world countries Kings and Presidents, South American officials from drug riddled countries and heads of state from numerous banana republics. If anybody can point out anyone of note i will be amazed with any economic clout i will be amazed. Please take note Broadstairs as all that glistens is not necessarily gold.

Derby Canary,

Irrespective of his qualifications, he is not running this great club of ours, that is the role of the CEO who typically has the power to lead and manage.

A chairman''s role is completely different and if you''re not sure what that is there''s plenty of information on google, but in short he/she is responsible for overseeing the highest standards of corporate governance and leading the board in all discussions put forward by, say, an executive committee.

Are any of them ''fantastically corrupt''?

More then:-

"He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Keble College, Oxford, graduating with a First—according to John Rentoul in The Independent—ahead of David Cameron.[8] Later he attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard, where he was a Kennedy Scholar specialising in Economics.

I am not particularly advocating the case for Ed Balls though. It''s just that I take exception to probable nobodies sitting in front of their anonymous laptops running down public figures, who have actual notable achievements, without any prior-to knowledge and usually with a hidden agenda.

Thanks for that Ray.

My only concern then is that it will first be necessary for us to identify and hire this CEO. On the basis that nobody (it seems) currently on our board seems to have sufficient football knowledge to ''get the right man'' I am not sure how this will work.

The botch the Club made in selecting a head of recruitment and the many mistakes that followed (during the Summer and earlier this year) is fresh in my mind!

Derby Canary,

I agree, the selection is another issue. However if we are prepared to keep the salary at a similar level then I imagine we could attract a number of well respected and experienced candidates, given DM was the 7th (I believe) highest paid CEO in the land.

We can only wait and see Ray and keep our fingers crossed.

Whoever they ultimately select I would still feel a tad more comfortable with a lot more ''football knowledge'' spread across our board. Never a good thing for a CEO to be able to adopt an autocratic approach as Fred Goodwin so ably (or otherwise) demonstrated with the Royal Bank of Scotland!

Anyway lets hope for three points tonight.

So Tilly, I did look up the other senior fellows at the Harvard Kennedy School Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business & Government (which is what Ed Balls currently is), it actually makes for quite an elite sounding group of highly qualified economical and policy making minds. Here''s the link in case you didn''t find it: https://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/mrcbg/about/fellows/currentsrfellows

What is missing from this list though are any Kings or Presidents of 3rd world countries or South American drug riddled officials. If you look further down the staff lists then you get more well respected academics so perhaps you are misinterpreting the people who attend to try and improve their policy and decision making skills with the people who are actually employed by said institution.

In sum, Balls is a highly educated and highly qualified individual whose achievements cannot be denied whatever one''s political affiliations.

We now have to hope that he brings some of his talent to our Club, one way or another.

Derby Canary, where in Derby are you?

Or does your user name signify that you have a glorious history at the derbies against the Canaries, like kicking a bin over or something?

Nuff said, I currently live in Derby(shire) but am originally from Norwich having supported the Canaries since circa 1960. Have witnessed many ups and downs over that time.

With the recruitment the Rams have made up here over the last few years we have almost become their ''feeder'' Club.
