I wonder who the secret new helper is?

A secret new helper makes me feel a lot more confident about the window.😳

ALex Neil isn''t worried about "the window"....

ALEX Neil is happy with the short-term measures in place as he makes all the preparations necessary for City''s assault on Sky Bet Championship promotion next season.

City are currently without a permanent Chief Executive following David McNally''s resignation earlier this month, but Neil has been working with the Board and interim CEO Steve Stone to get the ball rolling in terms of his plans for the 2016-17 campaign.

Steven Whittaker signed a new one-year deal with the Club on Monday, and Neil said this week: "We know the situation and have a structure in place now, whether it is to deal with bringing in players, letting players go or renegotiating contracts.

"Those discussions pretty much started immediately. We’ve found ourselves with a good solution at this moment in time because we need to give ourselves the best opportunity to go back up."

It took exactly a month to appointment McNally after Doomcaster had resigned and arguably that was so quick because we had no Chairman at the time either (Munby resigned the same day as Doomy).

McNally resigned on the 9th May so We''ve still got time to play with in terms of the time frame of last time, but given that there is less upheaval I''d rather the board takes it''s (relative) time and gets the appointment spot on.

Hiring Spencer Stuart to find the new CEO shows they are serious and not messing about.

The bit that got me was     --  “We have also made sure we bring into our existing structures the kind

of expertise and quality we need. I’m not going to go into the detail of

that because I don’t really want our competitors to know how we’re

doing it. But we’ve brought in more than one person, we’ve got a strong

team working really closely together"

“Spencer Stuart have a lot of experience doing chief executive

recruitment in general, but have a particular experience of the

footballing business. They are currently looking for the chair of the

Football Association and the new chief executive at Liverpool"

"Right mate, you''re the best CE available, we can currently offer you Liverpool or Norwich City.""Hmm, difficult choice, can I have three seconds to think about it?"Little old Norwich is a laughing stock! [:@] [:@] [:@]

So my dream of the flash becoming CEO of Norwich is dead?

It looks to me like the decision to task Spencer Stuart with finding a CEO is down to Ed Balls. Make of that what you will.

I think Ed Balls has hired someone who knows what he is doing.
But then I don''t hate Ed Balls.
I suppose if I hated Ed Balls, I would probably say something along the lines of "Great, so only here for six months, with a relegation on his CV already, and now he''s throwing money we don''t have around on headhunters to bring in some corporate non-entity who won''t understand football but probably went to Oxbridge and is the nepotistic offspring of some failed member of the political elite, to try and run our club but the thing he doesn''t realise is nothing will ever change while Delia and MWJ are still pulling the strings, and this is just a piece of grandstanding to make it look like the club are doing something when in reality we should have already signed eight players and had Bassong hung, drawn and quartered.  Frankly we look tinpot and third-rate at best and the sooner we go into administration and get the witch and her cronies out of our club, the better."
But I guess haters gonna hate. and hating is oh so easy.

If you have a look at Spencer Stuart''s wikipedia page they appear to be quite heavy hitters, recruiting on behalf of big corporates, governments and the like. However, from their website they don''t seem to specialise in sport.I have reservations about whether they''re the ideal route to getting a new CEO, perhaps overkill, but it seems that this is a departure from using contacts and word of mouth recommendations. For example, Bob Cooper was probably recruited through Winnie''s connections to Sainsburys, McNally was recommended to the owners by Roy Hodgson, and the acting CEO may well have been known to McNally via his Courtaulds connection.

I work in recruitment (nothing as senior as Spencer Stuart though) but they are good. However I don''t think many of them are related to the political elite.
93v am I reading this right that you''re suggesting Smith and Jones know best?
I think I''d trust Winnie over some of these corporate recruitment specialists. I''d only trust Delia if she was tasked with making a sherry trifle.
