Nevermind Newcastle and Villa

Recommended Posts

Sky are reporting Derby are appointing Nigel Pearson as their new manager. With all the money they''ve spent over the last couple of seasons and the promise of more to come, they will be a big threat going forward. We all know the Championship is a hard league to get out of - it''s just got a bit harder.

Nothing to fear with Pearson. Under pressure the man''s an emotional wreck...

It''s incredible really. When relegation was confirmed plenty of folk were bemoaning how unnecessary it all was, how we''d thrown away the points that should have kept us up. Now, with the only thing that''s changed (at this moment) being our divisional status we''re panicking that we might not be good enough to mount a Championship challenge!! I guess this squad weren''t good enough to stay up so why would they be good enough to get us up???

If you have a look at some other boards you''ll see they''re plenty worried about us as well and with good reason given our recent Championship history.

Pearson took quite a few years and spent more than we ever have in the PL wages wise getting Leicester out of this division, Benitez didn''t actually turn things round at Newcastle and has never managed in this league before. Di Matteo is a decent enough manager but there''s a huge rebuilding job needing to be done at Villa, changing the quads mentality alone will be a huge job and I could see heads dropping as soon as they lose a couple of games.

We all knew next season would be tough, but we''re just as much of a threat to the automatics as any of our rivals and there''s no reason to be worrying yet.
