Jarrold Stand is no more.....

Recommended Posts

I started just at the end of the John Jarrold era, the 3 brothers tried hard but they were never going to match their Dad. None of them were interested in football, sailing was their thing. When the brother kids started to be employed they seemed to be worse, Quickprint was a bad idea and most of the strategic plans that came after that weren''t going to work. Worked with some great people and had some good nights at Carmelites.

We used to travel in to Norwich on a Wanderbus tkt (30p) eat chips at the market , 12p, i think, then go into Jarrolds and generate static electricity by dragging our feet on their carpet and get sparks by touching each others ears (0p), then down to CR for the match. I was about eleven, thanks for the best carpets in the city for cheap fun, C&A were second.

Myself, the family and friends spent many a happy hour in The Carmelites, closed far too early in its life unfortunately.

I was a press operator during my time there.

I always got on very well with Mr Peter though and have spoken to him several times since.

The last occasion was last September during the heritage week-end, took some family to the John Jarrold museum, he was in there speaking to a former pressman, Billy Hall, who had just celebrated his 102nd birthday, took a photo of them both.

Well Les, I worked at Jarrold Book Printing Thetford. They screwed us but we guessed the writing was on the wall for you guys in Whitefriars. It''s like a smaller version of what has happened to BHS, stuff the workforce the Government will foot the bill and they''ll get a minimal payout.

From what I gather the main sponsors have nothing to do with crisps or gambling!

Galway Roast have been a partner to City all season, they had quite a good prize on offer in April,VIP tickets, signed shirt and various other things.

Never mind Les, we had some laughs and had a good living while it lasted. A shame it ended the way it did but such is life.[:D]

As someone who must be at least as old as me with your own experience would you say "in most cases" or "in some cases"?

Maybe this is step one of our club being taken over by Kenco or Nescafe, or something similar.  Coffee seems to be more expensive than beer now, and every other shop on the high street appears to be a coffee shop, so there must be good money in it.

I think with a socialist owner, a former Trotskyist as Chairman, and Stephen Fry as a dear friend of the club, this would be entirely fitting as part of our Rainbow Nation [Y]

I suppose if the workers are to own the means of production, then we should all get to take a player home with us and provide them with food and lodgings.
Oh go on then, I''ll take Whittaker.
