Redmond rejects new Canaries deal

Recommended Posts
I would have expected him to do even better for us in the coming Championship campaign than he did in the last and see this as a dent in our chances of a quick return.
A bigger dent in our promotion chances would be Klose leaving. Any monies accrued from the sale of Redmond should be spent on securing the former''s services and strengthening the defence [Y]
PL clubs have just recieved 33% more finance this year. All other selling clubs will be jacking up their prices accordingly. 8 Million, 4 years ago would have been about right. Since then PL income has pretty much doubled making the 8 million being banded about even more ridiculous.

It doesn''t matter what we think of him, he''s young, English, has plenty of experience, his best years ahead of him, is at a debt free club with no need to sell and he''s highly rated in professional circles. Irrespective of how inconsistant he''s been for us ( and remember our lack of mainstream exposure means most people aren''t aware how flaky he actually is) he''s easily a 15 Million player in today''s market.
[Y] Yes, spot on.

I''d have thought £15m was a little high (that''s more than Townsend who is (somehow) on the verge of the England team), but we definitely ought to be getting a decent whack for him, £10m should be quite a bit short.
I''ve been told that the stories about the clubs finances are true so don''t expect the fee to be ploughed back into the team
I''ve heard this too. Any money for new players will have to be raised from sales and even then a huge amount will be put aside in order that we remain debt free whatever the outcome from the coming season. The bank has refused us an overdraft facility after a meeting with McNally ended in drunken fisticuffs in Spearmint Rhino. At this point the Football League already have a contingency plan to promote MK Dons back to the Championship in the event that we cannot give assurances that we''ll be able to fulfil our seasons fixtures. This would also prevent the inevitable pitched battle between the Dons and Wimbledon in League One.

The Academy is already being scaled down, planning permission for an Aldi on Colney has been submitted.

Club''s in turmoil.

Frankly Duncan, and I have no reason to doubt you, then this just shows why appointing Ed Balls to the club''s Chairman role was such a poor decision which could only be made by socialist scum who should be crushed under the jackboot of history.
If we were out of the European Union at least we would be able to field a team made of UK citizens and all our furriners would have to f*ck off back to Brussels.  Bye Ricky, Martin, no not Ricky Martin, he''s still f*cking here the useless twunt. I mean the Van and the Olsson.
Maybe Van Olsson could be a heavy metal tribute band, if Ricky could lift a guitar.

I''ve been told it''s actually worse, we''re having to sell the ground and play on Thorpe rec, where the local council will let us put up a small stand for the couple of hundred people who''ll stick it''s the side.

If our finances are a bit wonky, but we have offered Redmond a new contract, and (supposedly) expect Klose to stay, that doesn''t really tally.

I don''t expect us to buy that many players tbh, and if we only reinvest (most of) what comes in for sales we will merely be doing what we did under Adams, which makes sense.

So we if we only get 10m for our prized asset what must the rest of our squad be worth.

10m is peanuts to a Prem club for a under 21 international. Selling short yet again.

It''s most probably worth keeping him and forfeit the 10m to push for promotion.

Redmobd is a tactical liability at the top level, unless played at 10 (or 9) as per the U21''s.

With the preferred methodology of high, aggressive full backs and a W in the Champs, he is still something of a liability at that level.

Given that we never found a suitable tactical solution for his skills and given that his form remained consistently erratic, a £7m profit on a player due to leave in a year looks sound business.

Conversely selling our Football-Manager-stats MVP might well not actually weaken us at all.

He did not play regularly because his flaws were repeatedly exploited by the opposition thus negating his obvious strengths. He became something of a (at best) zero equation.

Or not playing him as much as we could/as best we could cost us the ability to win games.

The "liability" is going to be the one player from our squad that the Prem teams want.

Last time we compared, the Murphys were a long way from Redmonds level. Im not sure too much has changed although Josh has proven himself useful in the championship.

On the plus point, theyre home grown so i doubt our fans will boo and kick off every time Redmond doesnr take on and beat a player.

Prediction: Redmond will be bought by a team like Stoke who will use him as an impact substitute when they are chasing a game.

At this point the tactical liability is offset by the need to create something against the odds and the gamble is worth it.

Or they''ll play him at 10. He will not start regularly, unless or until his impact performances demand it.

Premier clubs can more than afford to take the Redmond''s of this world as a valued (English) part of the squad, more or less at any cost. He represents a cost-free hit.

What it will not be is a decent premier league taking him to be a 1st XI starter in a wide position.

Its all about the priceand inevitable he will leave.

If Pritchard is £8m then £10m for him is almost laughable.

There won''t be any Prem teams wanting to sign Howson to play on their right wing. You can be sure of that.

Not playing Redmond hurt our chances of survival.

What worries me is the ''business as usual'' atmosphere. There''s no inquest on where it''s all gone wrong, no re-evaluation, no sense of changing direction and no leadership. If we haven''t got rid of several players by the end of the month then we''ll be in big trouble.

Its completely pointless to compare Redmonds selling fee to any other player, anyone can say oh hes worth this value or that value, the reality is, if he goes for 10 million, then City will have made a few mill profit, and Brum will get a modest slice to. As Parma so correctly described, without denying Nathans talent and potential, he does have liabilitys, both for NCFC and potentially other clubs to.Another thing to remember, is the wages Reddders gets, it will help with the necessity of lowering the clubs wage bill. While the TSF Twitter report of doom and gloom for City financially was rightly  spoken of as garbage by our Chairman, there is no doubting the logical  necessity of trimming a hefty Premier wage bill now we are Championship, so seeing guys like MBok and Redders going helps of course. In the same vein, not expecting City to be buying any players in the 8 mill or higher bracket now, any signings will likely be much more modest. This rules out a lot of the silly links to players, such as Patrick Roberts, its just not going to happen.

There''s been little news coming out of CR, so I guess we''re going to be getting these ''scare'' stories. There are some slightly odd signs (CEO leaving, no kit announced yet, no sponsor, have we announced our ''released'' list?). Then again, it is still the start of June and only a couple of weeks since the end of the season; at our choosing, we have ended the jarrold sponsorship so clearly have something else lined up.

IMO it''s patently obvious that we will have less money than we''d have had in the PL, but to imply/say we''re skint will be overstating things - and compared to many in the Champs we will surely be pretty flush. We will have planned for the possibility of relegation, as all clubs like us will have done.

So we sell our best striker for £3m and now our only attacking ''threat'' for a measly £10m. We''ll be lucky to finish mid-table if the answer to our defensive fragility and/or our attacking ineptitude is a new contract for Whittaker. It''s looks like last August''s transfer fiasco is set to be surpassed by this year if that is possible. Let''s hope for new investment before we find ourselves, once again, set for a decade, or worse, of championship medicroity.

There''s 4 negatives in that statement, can you re-write it so that it makes sense?
A pedant[8-|] would say there are only three negatives, since "...not just..." is a positive.[:D]But if you are really looking for negatives I recommend reading Highland''s[:@] apocalyptic disaster-movie vision just above...

Something will have to give somewhere, probably the transfer budget as opposed to eg going into debt. Selling Redmond might both mask and alleviate any financial hangover from last season.2/ I never claimed to know about what''s going on inside the boardroom, but at least publically nothing much seems to be being said or coming out via the usual channels (leaks, rumours etc). If there was a big re-evaluation, along the lines of sitting down and consulting with staff, then I''m sure we''d have heard about it by now. I doubt we''ll hear anything from the club about lessons learned over the previous four years resulting in a significant change of strategy.

Purple, I wouldn''t regard my view in any sense as ''apocalyptic, but simply a measured, realistic assessment of our ongoing predicament. Certainly, I could offer a less upbeat future scenario...

You said there wasn''t any kind of inquest or re-evaluation going on. In fact Neil has said there is, at least as far as his view of the football side is concerned, and when Balls became chairman he said he was drawing up a 10-year plan for the club as a whole.
