We haven't won this season or even gained a point this season without......

He''s been missed, Klose and Bassong must certainly be our CB''s for the rest of the season if fit
......Bassong in the team. That includes cup games too!
On a quick calculation, we have played 33 games in all (excluding pre-season friendlies), 29 EPL, 1 FAC, 3LC. Seb has played in 30 of those 33 games, and while he has played in all that we have won or drawn he has also played in far more from which we came away empty handed. Pretty damning I''d say. Or more accurately, if you want to misuse statistics you mustn''t complain if others do so as well. [;)]
Lafferty''s never been in a losing team..
[Y] Which makes it even more remarkable that one of the top six didn''t come in with a bid in January. After all, what would Leicester for example do if Vardy got injured? And surely he''d be an automatic pick for Arsenal ahead of Giroud? Just shows how little the likes of Ranieri and Wenger (or Alex Neil for that matter) know compared to us experts on this board ....... [:D]

WCC, do you have to keep spoiling it with reasoned and sensible analysis ?

Well unfortunately for you westcoast is the only one misusing statistics is yourself. I have presented a fact that that cannot be argued with. Where as you have presented opinions to facts.

We haven''t won or gained a point this season without Bassong in the team, FACT!

It is obvious that Bassong has played in more games where we haven''t gained points than games where we have. Just look at the table! How is that damning on Bassong? Unless you''re of the opinion that 1 man alone has more influence than the other 10?

Furthermore ask yourself this. Why has Bassong played more games than any other defender!?

hes sh1 tend ofbang fu ck ing average with mroe than mistake in him every game, he panics under pressure and his passing is poor, the one thing he had going for him was his pace and hes losing that by the gamehes a relegation mascot

After all that he is still better than our Captain

Been saying all season that he was the weak link in the defence. All the RM haters on here who clearly have little to no football knowledge were blaming him for goals which were quite clearly Bassongs fault, the amount of time Bassong left Martin exposed and trying to defend against two players was incredible, the opposing team inevitably scores and Martin was getting slaughtered. Quite telling for me that in the 3 games in the PL Bassong has missed, we didn''t allow the league leaders a shot on target till the 65th minute and went down to Brady disappearing down the left and Pinto letting his man go free, a sloppy goal against Chelsea in which Pinto again let the player get an easy shot off, then the offside goal which our defence couldn''t have done anything about. Swansea away, again Pinto losing the ball high up the field and then not getting back quick enough to mark Sigurdsson. So in the games Bassong has missed, none of the goals that have been conceded have been the fault of either Klose or Martin, the back 2/3 are actually looking incredibly solid at the moment and keeping teams at bay, Klose and Martin are working well together and it would be ridiculous to drop either for Bassong who quite simply shouldn''t be anywhere near a PL team. Biggest help for our defence would be to stop making our full backs bomb up the field leaving us exposed down both flanks!

Slight different twist to OP, but sadly, the new January signings, Naismith, Pinto and Klose  still have not tasted a single win yet since they signed, and here we are are nearly into middle of March. They must wonder if itll ever happen right now.

To say the back 2/3 have looked extremely solid when we haven''t kept a clean sheet is a ridiculous statement. Wing backs do leave us exposed and are partly to blame but the centre backs still need to ensure they mark the likes of Ulloah who scored for Leicester.

I don''t really get this thing about Bassong having a mistake in him. I mean yes he does but it''s just as true of all our defenders and some more so than him.

Nice manipupation there!

If you delve further back to last season and compare results with and without bassong in the team then, it provides a far better example.

I hope we settle on bassong and klose as a back 2. Martin rb and brady lb. That is where we likely get most success.

was gutted to see no Bennett on Saturday when the team was announced as I''m not Sebs biggest fan, but credit where credit is due he was immense for the last 15mins on Saturday.

Would still rather have Bennett and Close personally.
