should AN be looking at Coaching staff ??

most of the season we have struggled with

basic defending

defending as a unit

attacking as a unit

midfield not creating chances for strikers

strikers isolated

now wouldn''t you think after all this time our coaches would not be able to address these basic issues

I wonder and it is up to the manager but what are the coaches doing ??

I have not seen many players progress this year

in fact players like Redmond have gone in reverse

this is no trolling just honest questions i think AN has earned the right for a season in the top flight as he got us up but these problems must change if he is to progress as much as others think

now before people say players not good enough that''s rubbish as coaches managers should get players playing above their level

you wouldn''t have said any of them were outstanding or to be fair most wouldn''t have wanted them start of season but they are playing as a team as a unit

It´s a fair point, and a good point.

There is every reason to questions what is going on in the trainign sessions at Colney, because the team lacks the cohesion needed, and seen from other teams we should be on par with.

We were favourites for relegation-same as the other seasons we were in the PL recently. It''s no surprise we are where we are. Hopefully we will complete the new signings which will take our spending in this window to around £20m and secure our safety.

Early in the season we were scoring, if not for fun at least much more freely than we are now, and I have a suspicion that AN went Hughton-like with all the errors the defence was making.

We are set up usually as a defensive unit hoping to score by counter attacks, but with Redmond having lost his confidence or courage, and replaced by Vadis or Howson, much of the threat has gone.

We seem to have the lost the patient game we had - the second goal at Wembley showed what we could do, and the single striker we employ can''t work his socks off and also get behind opposing defences, as happens to us.

It''s all very well coaching for skills and strategies, but if the set up is not so good and the defence so weak, it may be asking the impossible

A very good and valid point by the OP . IMO it has become more obvious that having an inexperienced manager is costing us in many departments . The board could do worse than asking David Moyes ( unemployed , and apparently , an admirer of our young talent ) if he would be interested in working as a consultant for the rest of the season .

I am not sure it would necessarily if it was done and handled correctly ,,, the importance of remaining as a premier league team must not be derailed due to an ego , or the worry of hurt feelings .

I think we''ve struggled with defensive basics all season and also (although we did not concede too many) the defence was not great last season. Our marking from both set pieces and open play is not what it should be. I do not know what the "specialisms" of our coaching team are but if there is not already a coach who focuses on the defence side of things then that is something we could perhaps benefit from. I''ve said before that I find the poor marking really surprising given Neil''s reputation for having his sides well drilled and organised.
