Rumours are gathering pace that owner Randy Lerner may be lining up his son Max for a more active role at the club and that the 18-year-old could be parachuted in at an executive level. The youngster was a regular fixture in the days when his father was a more regular visitor – and he clearly retains his affection for Villa. Max would have the use of a private jet to whisk him from his home on the east coast of America to the UK. His presence at Villa Park could be useful to Lerner Snr – either to give him exposure to the boardroom or else as a much-needed pair of eyes at a club where plenty has gone wrong and who are plunging towards the Championship.
