How we've missed O'Neill.

Recommended Posts

Against Stoke we looked sharp up until his silly red card in a game we looked set to win. In the 3 games since we''ve failed to pick up a single point. Looked panicked against Bournemouth, fell apart vs Liverpool and Toothless vs Spurs.

Alex Neil has changed personnel to accomodate but ultimately the steadying influence and experience O-Neill provides.

They always say your best player is the one you don''t notice until they don''t play..Take creativity and flair out of it but Gary O''Neill is our best player.

We need him back at the weekend.

We''re always better with Bassong than without but many people want him dropped.

Funny how players often become much better when they don''t play...

Like how we''re suddenly missing Ruddy''s experience and commanding nature at the back, and Lafferty''s goals up front.

If O''Neil is the answer then im afraid it just shows we really are not a top flight club , hes a aging journeyman no more than that .

Fuck it, let''s have fun with you.
How old is he? and based on that age and the amount of clubs he''s had, what makes you claim he''s a journeyman?

[/quote]32/33 Norwich is his 7th club , to me that''s a journeyman and if you are not wanted by QPR you are not the saviour of Norwich .Although you happy clapping idiots will cling to any straw however small .

Look at the games in which has played and the results and compare where he has been missing.

If you''re good enough you''re old enough. GO''N our most effective midfielder never been relegated from PL can be our talisman.

He was relegated from the Prem with Middlesbrough. 2008/9.

Definition of "journeyman."

"A journeyman is an individual who has completed an apprenticeship and is fully educated in a trade or craft, but not yet a master. To become a master, a journeyman has to submit a master work piece to a guild for evaluation and be admitted to the guild as a master."

Nothing to do with travelling about a lot or, in a footballers case, having lots of clubs as some have implied on here. More a term associated with trade guilds from the Middle Ages onwards.

Apologies for the little lesson, but it was a misconception I held for a long time until I actually looked it up.

thanks for the real definition of the word BroadstairsR!

As a few others have said on other threads, he possibly is the experienced leader that Norwich have missed.

Hear hear!

I say we also get rid of the ridiculous term ''defenders'' as clearly the original definition of the word has connotations of military activity.

He''s a journeyman midfield player who is made special because of our lack of quality at DM. Please don''t make the mistake of hanging our hopes on O''Neil.
