Ruddy story in The Sun

Recommended Posts

The witness " a life long Canary Fan" if this is true we don''t need fans like this selling the story to the Sun. send it to the club if you feel strongly about it or maybe it''s a money making motive. - maybe any money paid by the Sun should be given to the club to replace Ruddy in January if he really disgusts you that much.

Things have been building up on Ruddy and we all have a breaking point - not excusing the action - but maybe the "innocent guy" knew which buttons to press to get the reaction whilst his mate got his phone ready?

He did what all good keepers are trained to do, he made sure that once he decided to come off his line he made contact, you don''t want to flailing at thing air.

The guy that wound up JR deserved a slap, but, and this is a big but, JR should have laughed it off, he is a professional after all.

It cant have been the first time a''supporter'' gave him the benefit of their football opinion on a night out, and John should have handled it better. Although i suspect he was giving his punching hand a little self satisfied rub in the taxi home.

Expect the usual PR driven apology that no one believes and a nominal punishment from the Club.

Verdict.......... Stupid but understandable, good job no one seriously hurt.

I know mate! Very predictable.

None of you know what went on beforehand with this ''lifelong canary fan'' - it''s laughable how people have already made their minds up. For all we know this lad could of made a lunge for John''s missus or something similar prior to the camera rolling, and if that was the case then I would have no complaints - sorry if that offends the extraordinary amounts of angels who are clearly impeccable on the cider.

The only bit i cant agree with you on Morty is the ''Professional'' bit. As such, JR should have been able to go out have a relax etc etc , agree fully, the ''fan'' was in the wrong , but just think a senior pro should be able to pat a small man on the head and laugh it off, even if he''s boiling inside.

So , no, i dont think it''s rubbish, it''s part of what they get paid for....and that ''s without speculating whether or not JR had a little too much to drink , which, unfortunately for drivers everywhere has been proven to impair judgement.....having a quiet drink is not unprofessional, getting pissed during the season, is.

I don''t blame JR, just think if it was 2pm in a sober environment rather than 2 am in Tombland the outcome would have been different.

But hey, the guy lasted about as long as Connor McGregors opponent....and no one had to go to Vegas or pay to see it.

"He was hammered, talking to people, being a bit rude."

This is what the witness in the story says. he seems to be talking about Ruddy not the other bloke although it is somewhat unclear. It then says he called the bloke over to him.

I would say that whether or not he is talking about Ruddy or the bloke who got pinged is a fairly crucial element of the story in terms of culpability. He''s still acted unprofessionally whichever is the case but I would accept that if he was heavily provoked then his culpability is less.

Agree about the "life long fan" - doesn''t do the club any good spreading this in the national press. If Ruddy truly was out of order then perhaps a quiet email to the club the way to go.

That said how do we really know what any of our players are truly like. Sometimes you meet them and those you expect to be good blokes are not and other surprise you.

This life long fan is out at 2.40am, not many life long fans of a certain age are out at that time. So the fan is probably a 19 years old if he takes videos on his phone on a night out.

I stick with my previous post JR is clearly provoked and many ppl tell the idiot to shove off. Whatever was said prior will come out but the club and jr will pay the idiot off.

Like I said if players want a late night, boozy night then they can afford to book a private booking and have cabs at the door rather than stand in a taxi rank.

Jr is a fine keeper and achieved great things here. He is not on his way out, no way!

Could be a motivation for AN here, that idiots are out there and let''s channel the frustrations we all feel now to positive efforts on the field.

Either way the group will be highly supportive of a key senior player. He will pay for this but the idiot is the one that I have no sympathy for.

Name and shame the "lifelong fan" ......Buh

Better still, have him sit down in the cold light of day and have him repeat what he said to JR again , to his face.

Many posters are missing the point

No matter how much provocation he had or not he is a representative of the club 24 hours if he can''t control his temper then he shouldn''t go out in tombland

It is negative publicity that the club doesn''t need

Pity he did make contact with a few of the crosses that put us in the bottom 3
The perfect excuse to sack him and get this useless butter-fingered buffoon off the payroll before January
Is that the phrase that got the ''lifelong'' fan a trip to A&E?

Of course I don''t know what triggered this fight, but maybe "the victim" was the instigator and "deserved" a slap or whatever it was. A classic scenario is that that the drunk "victim" sling shit about him being a known person and has lost his place in goal. I pressume there was some alchohol in the picture here.

Basically there are two issues here.

Ruddys smacked someone, which you can''t do. He''s in the wrong but it''s not like he''s Adam Johnson or Ched Evans, I forgive him for what he did. I don''t know all the facts but I''ve known plenty of people that have been involved in a tear up on a Saturday night and there not bad people they are just wrong place wrong time. Could happen to anyone, and that''s before you add on that he''s a professional footballer and a massive target for abuse (literally)

He''s not a thug, he''s a decent bloke that ended up in a fight. Big freaking deal.

The second issue, and the one that actually gripes me more, is the "lifelong fan" who sold his soul and his club down the river. If he is a fan there''s a fair chance he''ll be looking around the internet today looking right for reaction. So there''s a fair chance he''ll happen across this thread. I''d just like to say to that individual that you are basically on a par with a scu.mmer in my eyes. You are a disgrace to the support and I hope the 500 quid the sun paid you goes on an Ipswich season ticket and not on your pig-like missus'' Christmas lambrini. Pri.ck.

Some idiot''s think they can take advantage of the fact, as far as they''re concerned, a player won''t react or retaliate because they''re representing the club 24/7.
I''m glad Ruddy done it. These kind of people with absolutely no spine who walk around abusing people they think they can get away with, deserve it.

All a bit of a storm in a teacup. Yes, he shouldn''t have got involved but it happens. Players are always targets especially when the lager''s flowing and sometimes Joe Public deliberately pushes it too far. You''d need the patience of a saint not to react occasionally.Neil Kinnock got away with brawling in the street outside a London restaurant as did John Prescott when showing us his boxing skills. Why even our very own Chief Exec was not so long ago allegedly involved in a late night scuffle in Prince of Wales Rd and, if true, that was all quietly glossed over.Nothing to see here.

a crappy mobile video, not showing the whole story,

nothing from the club, the player or the police......

a redtop rag who specialise in this sort of crap.

a player, that until recently earned cries of "England''s no 1" from the Barclay and snakepit, whos attracted bids of £10m

and been a massive part of our progress in the last few year.....

for gods sake give the guy a break, wait until there is either a police, player or club statement before sending the lynch mob.

PLEASE!!!

Let''s not forget the Bullingdon Club and that time someone at the Liberal conference when someone in a jumper looked at someone else a bit funny.
