New CB joining - Andrea Rannochia

Recommended Posts

So the rumour around me at the ground today was that a CB from Inter Milan was due to attend the game today and set to sign for £8.5m.

Sounded like a sure thing but often these ground rumours do. Has anyone else heard anything?

I put on the Manandnandna thread about Rannochia-just some talk on Twitter that we have offered 10m euros and Inter are interested as they would prefer the money as opposed to loaning the player to Bologna. I don''t know much about him to be honest.

Now I know loads about him thanks to Wikipedia:

Andrea Ranocchia

Italian footballer

Andrea Ranocchia (Italian pronunciation: [anˈdrɛa raˈnɔkkja]; born 16 February 1988) is an Italian footballer who plays as a defender for Serie A club Internazionale for whom he captained in the 2014–15 season.

Quick facts: Personal information, Date of birth ...

Club career

Born in Assisi in the province of Perugia, Ranocchia started his career at Perugia then in Arezzo. Ranocchia played for Arezzo''s Primavera team in 2005–06 season.

Genoa

In August 2008, Genoa purchased half of the registration rights for €1.55 million and sent him on loan to Bari, rejoining Arezzo coach Antonio Conte, where he won the Serie B Championship, obtaining promotion to Serie A the following season, and forming a promising defensive partnership with fellow emerging Italian centre-back Leonardo Bonucci.[1] On 26 June 2009 Genoa signed him outright for another €2.45 million, and Genoa paid €4 million in total for him within a year.[1][2]

On 1 July 2010 he moved back to Genoa. After a link with Inter in February 2010, the clubs agreed a deal in June 2010 which involved the transfer of young striker Mattia Destro.[3] The transfer became official on 20 July 2010, which Inter signed half of the registration rights of Ranocchia for €6.5 million and sent Destro on loan to Genoa with option to sign him in co-ownership deal (who later purchased outright for €4.5 million).[4][5] Ranocchia also loaned back to Genoa for a season.[6]

Internazionale

On 27 December 2010, Internazionale bought full ownership from Genoa for €12.5 million (made him valued €19 million in total) which were later confirmed by Genoa President Enrico Preziosi who expressed his delight at doing business with Inter.[7] The president of Inter, Massimo Moratti, spoke on the transfer to Sky Italia and said: "Finally an Italian. We had kept an eye on him from before. It is our project to go ahead with young players."[8] On 9 January 2011, Ranocchia made his debut against Catania where Inter won the match 2–1. He made his Champions League debut against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Round of 16; Inter eventually progressed to the Quarter-finals where they were eliminated by eventual semi-finalists Schalke 04. Ranocchia completed his first season with Inter by attaining a second-place finish in Serie A that season, and also won the 2010-11 Coppa Italia with that season, but lost out to Serie A Champions Milan in the 2011 Supercoppa Italiana Final.

Ranocchia was appointed as the captain of Inter ahead of the 2014–15 season, replacing the retired Javier Zanetti.[9] On 30 June Inter announced Ranocchia has agreed to extend his contract four more years until 2019.[10]

International career

On 21 August 2007 he made his debut with the Italy U21 squad in a friendly match against France. He took part at the 2009 U-21 Championship.

He made his debut with Italy senior team on 17 November 2010, in a friendly match against Romania.

Ranocchia was included in Cesare Prandelli''s 30-man provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup,[11] but not the final 23-man squad.

Style of play

Ranocchia has been described as a strong, physical centreback with reliable technique, timing, tactical knowledge and an ability to read the game well.[12] He has predominantly drawn praise for his aerial ability, making him a goal threat from set pieces, and former Inter centreback Marco Materazzi has described Ranocchia as his heir due to his own aerial prowess.[13] Former Inter defensive legend and captain Javier Zanetti has also praised Ranocchia for his leadership.[12][14]

Thanks Kenneth, good old Wikipedia!

So a £15m signing for inter and their captain it seems. Strange they are looking to sell.

Italian defenders usually have good pedigree I''m Surprised we don''t see more of them in the premiership.

We have been linked with numerous Italian players, pretty clear where our scouts have been focused!

The Italian report earlier today said the loan was more preferable. The report never mentioned our bid, so maybe the loan option has pushed our hand we have bid. If he was there then we are moving as he looks to cement a call up to the national side for the euros.

I hope AN and DM have long days and sleepless nights as they get deals done.

Bit odd - saw his name and it rang a bell, so looked up and it seems we were looking at him in Jan 2014 under Hughton for c£8.3m and he turned us down. It''s certainly odd how we seem to be linked to the same players so often.

Branston, it''s funny that this has come to light as this is not the first time in recent years that we''ve been in for the same player under different managers - it does therefore make me wonder who at the club ultimately selects our transfer targets. We also seem to be interested nowadays in a proportionally high number of Italian footballers every transfer window, I wonder if our close ties with Errea has any bearing on this or whether it''s just total coincidence.

Not another Italian player rumour,,honestly this should be treated as a load of old cobblers until it actually becomes fact from the Carra boardroom. Been linked with so many Italian players since we won at Wembley that we could have put out a more Italian starting  eleven than any Serie A side..we may be little old Norwich City but for some weird reason Italian sports magazines want to link us with their players...strange times indeed.

It''s an in-joke among Italian sports journalists prompted by our Fabio Quagliarella thread ............

To have the title ''new CB joining'' is rather misleading when it''s just a rumour so far. You should write for the daily mail OP.
Pronounced Rannochia or Rannockia?
The latter, just one c represents a ''ch'' sound.

Inter want cash before investing, the (reasonably) new owner Thohir needs to keep the Interisti dreaming of big names and big money, whilst keeping a handle on costs and the financial imbalances that dog Italian football.

Ranocchia (rann-ock-kee-ah!) is a good centre back who has particular strength in the air and a decent, commanding personality. Transferring this personality immediately from Italy to England in such a key communicative position looks unlikely to me. He wants to play immediately and his main goal is to protect his place in the Italian squad (and team if he can) for the summer. For this he needs to play - and play prominently.

Apologies to all apologists for the Premier League here, but Italians only really care about Italian football and - even an immediate and successful - stint abroad would not really fulfil his personal goals.

Bologna are in prime position. They have money and are seen as a club on the up. Cash is king and a loan with a view to the Rossoblu looks by far the most likely outcome.

Norwich could place immediate cash on the table, paid up front, which might swing it, but Ranocchia is a talker and this switch would - in the short term - take something away from his game.

Any big signings for us now in January need to improve the team straight away and increase our chances of staying up. This means big money, established players and those who can fit in seamlessly.

Nice work if you can get it....

Parma 🍝🍝💰💰💰

Going

from the Inter defence for the forthcoming January transfer market. Departing is Ranocchia: according to Corriere

dello Sport,
the English club Norwich made an offer of 11 million Euros

with the formula of an initial loan with redemption obligation in the event of

final agreement.
The decision goes to the player, in the background

remain open tracks that lead to
Seville and Bologna, as well interest from Santon.

Given our past links with signings from Italian clubs (is it just Lafferty to have actually signed?) I cant get too excited and have no expectation of him being introduced to the carrow crowd soon.

But if the interest is genuine then it indicates that the club are looking to be progressive.

I agree, with potentially 3 signings already in the bag (Naismith, Pinto and lad from York) as well as Jarvis, think this could be a great window for us.

Past windows have usually left us disappointed so it''d be lovely to see big signings through the doors before the window even opens so to speak!

The Norwich is serious - The English club - mired in relegation - Inter would present the final offer for Andrea Ranocchia. The dish arrived 11 million euro that would come into the coffers if the Nerazzurri club - that would borrow player - could be saved: loan repurchase obligations in the event of salvation.

OFFER - Inter have not remained indifferent to the British proposal, to the point of putting stalled the transfer of frogs to Bologna. The "swag" allow - also - the Nerazzurri to fix the budget and avoid paying the second "installment" of the fine imposed by UEFA. Thohir, to be precise, has until June 30 to be within the -30 million agreed .

The ball goes to the player who will have to decide whether to accept the British proposal, listen to the Spanish and - ultimately - to assess that coming from Bologna (loan).  TESORETTO - if it were to materialize the operation Ranocchia - Norwich the Nerazzurri would cash in a cash to invest.

Watching Norwich try to sign a center back is becoming a bit like watching an episode of Johnny Bravo. Running up to every half decent center back we see, flexing our financial muscles, only to be completely ignored and given the cold shoulder.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnGnl-UElVA
