Making Plans

Norwich boss Alex Neil starts by discussing the status of various transfer targets for the Canaries this month.

He says there is nothing to report Sebastien Haller from Utrecht or Steven Naismith from Everton

Yet he confirms that a deal for York''s Ben Godfrey is at an "advanced stage" and hopefully the club "can get it over the line soon".

He adds there is no deal in place for striker Gary Hooper to extend his loan stay at Sheffield Wednesday beyond this weekend.

Just Ben Godfrey then. There''s the ambition right there.

We have enough kids on the books now that get loaned out to league 1 clubs. This one will be no different

The rest of it - interesting last comment

Norwich boss Alex Neil then shifts his focus to Saturday''s

game at Bournemouth, with just two points separating the sides in 15th

and 16th respectively.

"I''ve played Bournemouth twice as Norwich manager and won twice,

but it will be a difficult game. They''re strong at home," he said.

"If we win, we extend our lead over them to five points but it won''t be the deciding factor. There''s a long way to go."

Neil also interestingly adds that he thinks Robbie Brady is "better at left-back" than in left midfield.

You could tell from the inflection in his voice when he said "good morning" that all of our transfer dealings had fallen through and we don''t have a clue what to do next. He then paused and swallowed, a dead give away that we''ll be giving away fringe players for a pittance.

Cant argue with anything in the managers comments there making plans.

As far as no progress on targets - no surprise givens nurseys record and still plenty of time so no need for angst.

No questions around de maio though.

Good performance from Neil

Remember when Adams blatantly came out and said we were about to buy someone?

I appreciate honesty from a manager, but not when it comes to transfers.

Keep it cagey, keep expectations low.

He then goes on to the serious business stating that since Mr Balls came in that the club is 100% behind guaranteeing that the Pies and Sausage Rolls will be hot by 1.30PM on Match Days.

Its always been our priory to keep season ticket holders happy.

Unlikely that any Manager is going to give anything away at this delicate stage of the window, particularly if some of our rivals are after the same targets. Calm down and carry on!

I wonder if we will keep Hooper and just go with what we''ve got, Mbokani, jerome and hoops....focus on getting that much needed CB and someone to compete with Wes.

i don''t know why people ask managers about targets all they ever say is we don''t comment on other clubs players

AN is hardly going to say we found a gem of a player playing in france could be a world class player only 19 and they want £500 k is he !!

When will people grasp the fact the Norwich City say nothing about proposed signings until they have actually signed on the dotted line. Just one silly little word which maybe taken out of context said in front of the media which immediately goes all over social media sites would possibly undo a work in progress transfer.

He doesn''t need to. The history of our boards transfer dealings are enough for that.

This kind of calm, common-sense comment is not welcome on this forum.

Alex Neil actually use to be one of the most open managers when talking about transfers - confirming Norwich were after Destro and a bunch of other players (all of whom never signed).

He quickly learnt (most likely was told) to straight bat everything as the amount of coverage Premier League teams get is insane and he was fulling a lot of speculation.

Did anyone else notice that one of the microphones was at a jaunty angle, a sure sign that somethings about to happen.

I find it odd that in one report yesterday the York manager said that the deal for Godfrey had been agreed and was subject to a medical he didn''t foresee any problems. 24 hours later and for Norwich it is at an advanced stage. Whilst this may be one for the future my priority at this time would be the first team.

I feel that Alex Neil needs to take a leaf out of the Lambert book and say I want it and I want it now.

never fails to impress how words are twisted and sexed up on here to fit a posters agenda

Especially when that agenda seems to be attacking the club you claim to support

Come on! if you don''t recognise "at an advanced stage" as a catch all, beautifully crafted political statement of sort of/sort of not commital then I don''t know what to say to you.

Would you prefer he respond to transfer questions only in cheeky winks and some sort of mime performance?

Alex Neil also said he was now stuck with playing either Graham ''no-show'' Dorrans or Youssouf ''when will he come good'' Mulumbu alongside Alex Tettey for the next three games.  He appeared to be sticking pins into a voodoo doll wearing a NCFC shirt with the name O''Neil on the back, and could be heard muttering the words "Thanks a bunch, Gary" under his breath.

Did AN mention that we can''t possibly sign anyone because we have just realised that Norwich is in Norfolk? It''s not a great place like Swansea, Bournemouth or Leicester. What a shame. Still thank goodness it''s nothing to do with wages.
