So what's with Naismith

Recommended Posts
It''s on again off again on again more than Ross and Rachel!
Its so ridiculously protracted, isn''t it?He has known since the summer we are interested, and its not like he has been playing regularly for Everton. This really could have been virtually ready to wrap up on the 2nd January!

This deal is ridiculous, why would we want a player who clearly isnt keen to come.

Move on concentrate on getting decent cb some pretty good ones kicking around champshionship.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez

says Swansea City have not made an

approach for Steven Naismith and

suggests everything has “more or less been agreed” with another club.

Could

that other club be Norwich City?

Well, Canaries boss Alex Neil, speaking after his weekly press conference, has

said his club have done all they can and are now waiting to see if their

efforts pay off.

Agreed. It''s been the first time Martinez has actually said a deal is in place I wouldn''t like to write a player off made on more poor journalism, he wants to play minutes on the pitch and we''re offering that, knows a few of the squad I think he''ll be here.

Martinez has a great future ahead in politics if those are genuine quotes from him - sounds like a deal has been agreed, only it''s subject to further discussion, and the player will have the final say, but only down to a point, because it''s got to be right for all parties.  Glad that''s cleared up.

Reading between the lines I think this is code for City and Everton have agreed a deal but Naismith is not sure yet about the wages on offer.

He''s heard about the Tractors around Colney and that he won''t make it home for Loose Women which he thinks is a Porn Site

Similar to the Brady deal - we got there in the end and it was certainly worth the wait - hope this pans out the same way

I''ve just had the thought that maybe the stumbling block is that Alex wants to play him at CB since we seem to have little tangibly going on that front............

Looks as if it''s all down to Naismith now - reports in Liverpool Echo this afternoon saying that Martinez has reached agreement with Norwich & that it''s down to the player to decide if he wants to go.

Ever since the glory days when the Doc was playing up front for us (in the Prem !) I''ve always felt we should have a player who can play both positions.

The Martinez PC up on YouTube to watch and the two links are to the times he is talking about Naismith. He isn''t very clear, but it seems everything is still down to a meeting Martinez plans to have with Naismith about his future. Interesting he says the offer from the ''club'' (which IS Norwich) has been there ''since day 1'' of the window. He also suggests if Norwich hadn''t made a last minute bid in the previous window and Everton had time to replace Naismith we might have got him in the summer.

He is the player AN has wanted all along i suspect and i think he would be a big addition to the squad.

Really hope we see him in a City shirt soon.

I get the impression Alex Neil is patiently waiting for this player; he''s not seen as ''just another player'' - he has the talent & personal qualities AN seeks. Providing he arrives and fits in as Robbie Brady has done, there will be plenty to look forward to.

At least he''ll be able to understand the manager''s half-time team talk...

I can''t elaborate too much but as posted the other day there is still a possibility of a loan deal until end of season for Naismith, which would get rid of the problem of relegation clause and enable him to get used to being in the area. Whilst Everton had agreed terms the player did not, but with a loan deal the reverse could be more the case as they are really wanting to sell. this is ongoing as are two other continental players as mentioned the other day.
