funny old game

Mid point and Jan' fixtures

Recommended Posts

So the halfway point has been reached & we have accumulated half of the recognised number of points required for premier survival, good job so far, maybe 6pts less than we should have following our early season efforts, this somewhat balanced up by the unexpected victory at Old Trafford. Realistically most level headed supporters will be happy so far. Looking at our January league fixtures Southampton & Liverpool at home Stoke & Bournemouth away, I''m hoping we can keep the momentum building with maybe 4-6pts what do others think?

Very difficult for anyone to predict the next batch of results because we really have very little idea of what the team will look like in the days / weeks to come.

We have to imagine that the incoming New players will be an improvement on the current team so impossible to imagine what results will be.

Very difficult to predict. I would only say what AN implied, that for the remaining half season we could collect more points. We have cut out many of the dreadful defensive errors and gifts, and if we can maintain this 1-1- draws could become 1-0 victories.

We shall need luck, especially with injuries, and if we can sign one or two good defenders we should have cover in defence.

Once the defence is more watertight perhaps we can return to our early season attacking flair which doesn''t show very often at the moment. We do not need any more ''didn''t show up'' games which may have come from a lack of confidence.

I hope that some of this will be on show during January, and that a point at Bournemouth and a home win, at least, could maintain our ratio of a point per game.

The way we set up, we could well get a couple wins, to expect 4 wins is a little unrealistic, but Southampton next up would be a great 3 points, Stoke have found form and Bournemouth away is a difficult trip a point there and it would be a good result.

In reality anything like 5 points or more from the next 4 would be fantastic.

6 points would be great, 4 points I''d be happy with. Some very difficult games coming up against a few in form sides. The league is so unpredictable this year and we''ve got to believe we could take 3 points from any side.

Let''s not get to downhearted after today''s no show, it was a completely unacceptable performance to gift our nearest relegation rivals 3pts &we should not have left muff without at least a point (no matter how we got it) but a point or a win next week we will have an acceptable January points haul.
