Boy Jeffy 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Can we come up with 20 new chants before the new season begins? The more unlikely and stupid the better (nobody''s suggesting we ever sing these things in public!). It''s more fun than transfer speculation surely.....This one''s from ''Something Stupid'' by F and N Sinatra....I know I stand in line until you think you have the time to spend an evening with me,And if we go some place to dance, I know that there''s a chance you won''t be leaving with me,Then afterward we go into some quiet little place and have a drink or two,And then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like............."We are going up, I said we are going up. We are going up, I said we are going up"(you can substitute any ''normal'' chant into the last line (eg Oh Huckerby, oh hucker, hucker .. etc.)

..xx..WoRtHy_In..xx.. 0 Posted July 10, 2005 I think someone said this on the Canaries website. We love you Deano, if its quite alright we love you Deano, your dynamite, we love you Deano, cross the ball and we''ll score....ect.
Boy Jeffy 0 Posted July 10, 2005 Oi xxx~shrub~xxx poor Paul McVeigh - you''ve dumped him already? (Mind you I''d go with it if we sang ''head the ball and we''ll score...'')We need to be more cringeworthy - how about this, to the tune of that ''Lonely'' song by Pinky or Perky on a bad day.Jonson, Mathias Jonson, give us some fun son,Score us a goal (ooh woo woo-oo-oo) Sad, bad but smileable in its own way. Trent Canary 0 Posted July 11, 2005 How about the old ashley ward chant for deano?Ashton, Ashton, Dean Dean Ashton. He gets the ball and scores a goal, Dean Dean Ashton. Simple but effective! Viva Loo ee-Jean, Viva Loo ee-Jean? (Doesnt have the same ring as libbra, but an idea)
Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 11, 2005 I spent most of yesterday downloading and listening to Beatles songs (the older ones, not the ones about hand holding and all that gash), so got to thinking about: To the tune of Let It Be: "When we found ourselves in times of trouble Mother Delia came to me Speaking words of wisdom: Huckerby! Huckerby, Huckerby, Huckerby, oh Huckerby! He has been the answer Huckerby!" Cheesy I know, but better than our current Huckerby song! We''ve been really naff when it comes to chants recently, just relying on Delia''s Green Army whenever we get bored, so lets get some of these sung this coming season! Mind you, I did enjoy the Charlton game - I was sitting in the new Corner In-Fill stand, and we could hear the Barclay and the Snake Pit singing "We''re the Barclay, blah blah..." In a brief lull someone from behind me just shouted "We''re the in-fill, we''re the in-fill!" to which everyone joined in for the rest of the game!
Ken Aries 0 Posted July 11, 2005 in my humble opinion, the less complicated a chant is the better. you will never encourage many people to join in with chants when they dont know many of the words. the best chants to drive the team on are: "come on you yellows!" and "come on city!". they''re so simple that everyone (at least when they overcome their inhibitions, anyway) can join in. "specialist" songs are restricted to the snakepit/barclay and very few elsewhere. the crowd can achieve maximum volume with simple chants, as it''s more easy to synchronise everyone as one voice. it''s head on the block time now: am i the only one who thinks "on the ball city" sounds like a terrible dirge now. dont misunderstand me, i usually join in when it''s sung, but im not at all keen on it anymore. having said that, i wouldnt like to see it die out altogether as it''s part of the club''s heritage, but i wouldnt mind if i heard it less often. On the Ball City is not "dirge", and although it may not be the most up to date song in the world, it is our song, which is unique to us. Long may it continue.Re new songs, how about these suggestionsTo the "Rupert Bear" tune, which will mean nothing to txt spk contributors, but:- 1) Jason, Jason Jarrett, everybody knows his name2) The Amarillo song by AJ, superb3) Ashton definitely needs a song, the usual mono-syllabic "dirge" used for him is toilet. Whatever happened to re-engineering the "Steeno" chant for him? Adopted by snake pit, but not by Barclay. What has happened? Surely the "Deano, Deano" cannot survive into next season??4) Peter Thorne''s magic hat song should be adopted too.Peter Thorne is magic, he wears a magic hatHe could have stayed at cardiff, but he didnt fancy thatHe scores goals with his left foot, he scores them with his rightAnd when we play at Ipswich, he''ll score all ****** night!OOooooohhh, Peter Thorne is magic, etc, etc5) Also, fancy a que sera sera type chant for Francis. As we all know, he has a tendency to go to sleep during games, so how about a little "wake up call"When I was just a little boyI asked my Daddy, who is that manIs he sleeping, or is he awake, because it is hard to seeWake up Damo, Wake up Wake up Damo, wake up wake up DamoWake up Damo. Any comments??

Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 11, 2005
I would much rather be singing our current huckerby song that that one evil monkey
Fair dos, but I have to say I really don''t like the current Hucks song, I''m trying to think of a better one (and failing, it seems!) I mean, its just so rubbish: Oh Huckerby. Hucker-hucker-huckerby. Hucker-hucker-huckerby... repeat ad nauseum! Bloomin'' pants, I say... But yeah, like AJ''s Amarillo chant, much as I hate the song itself......
