Yet another....

...break in the football calender.  These international breaks may be necessary, but given there are only 38 games a season, it don''t half seem a long time between games.   The transfer window and three breaks at the beginning of a season must be a continuity nightmare for football clubs.  Could they not just have one three week  qualifying competition before the season, then we could get the transfer window and internationals out of the way in one go?   The other plus side of that would mean that people on their summer holidays don''t miss the start of the season in August, which is way too early imo. Moan over.

Part of the problem is that even within Europe , seasons start and finish at different times.....Norway, Ireland and others now play summmer Footy, some countries have a mid winter break. some, like Engaland have a fixture packed ''festive period''

Until that is sorted out i''d say they''d have a snowballs chance in hell of getting some kind of sense into the international schedule.

This also creates problems for the transfer window, the window should close before the seasons start, total distraction overshadowing first few games of the season.

Here''s a novel idea - why not do what Rugby does and keep on playing anyhow? Ok sure, teams would be without star players for 3 or 4 games a season... but since people are always complaining about lack of opportunities for younger players to break through these days, this could actually be a very positive thing! It would also help even up the playing field a little bit between the clubs that can go out and spend infinite sums of money on world class stars and those who have to develop their own or look for lesser, upcoming players.

That would make friendlies even more of a non event than they are now, sounds fine to me.

What do International managers actually gain from a friendly anyway, it''s a complete and utter waste of time.
