[;)][/quote]Not sure I trust all of this story to be entirely correct...Gartside is apparently very seriously ill, and him stepping is not be a surprise. But although he is the chairman he is not the owner - that is Eddie Davies, to whom most of the debt of £172m is owed. He has recently said he cannot go on providing more money to keep the club going, which again would suggest a change of ownership is on the cards. Bolton have hired the man who took Abramovich to Chelsea to find new owners. But, without knowing what Gartside''s finances are like, £150m+ is a lot of money for him to find. And QPR, that shining exemplar of how a club should be run, recently turned a similar amount into shares. FFP sanctions are triggered by losses rather than debt. The debt might be historical, ie accumulated before FFP, but as I understand it if the club is not taking on more debt and genuinely running at close to break-even then it should be safe.Bolton made a £50m loss in the season before FFP came in (2012-13) but according to a report in the local paper then slashed its wage bill in 2013-14 and so reduced the loss to under the £8m limit. However it can exceed this level to a certain limit, if it is entirely covered by a direct contribution/payment from the club owner(s) or a related party.
